Starting in the fifties, picking your choice of class, or formula: regs. favored smaller, then larger, then smaller, then larger, then smaller, then larger... engines.
All roads are two-way streets. Any that go only one-way, lead to extinction. There is no longer modern, or high-tech. etc; there is now only which decades old idea/s does one want to redo. |

Well, the FLM cars with the Panoz engine are nothing else than 2011 LMP2.
Think the ACO has to take care that chassis costs will be on a low level in that new class. Otherwise someone puts an engine in the expensive RS Spyder chassis and we are back where we are atm |

I think Porsche would have collective heart failure is somehow one of their chassis ended up with another engine in it, plus I think it was largely designed for the power plant that is in it, to work as a integrated system-or maybe it does have core possibilities for LMP1 upgrade. The Zytek looks a good bit of kit for LMP2 class, and probably could be modified if needed, or the Lola, or Oreca/Courage, as I think they all are somewhat flexible in the engine bay area to accept a production engine.

Another good piece by J. Dagys with Hugues de Chaunac.

Rather they are stating they would 'like to' be at sebring, two completely different things as we have seen in the past. We'll know for sure when the actual Sebring entry is released. Fingers crossed

See on DSC that Creation are firming up their plans for 2010 - looking for a full season in the ALMS with a V8 powerplant - any thoughts on what that might be?

It mentions they like their car better with a shorter wheelbase which makes me think the car will be similar to a current P2, so I'd guess a Judd, or possibly Zytek V8.

AER, Acura is talking about possible lease program, don't know if it would be in anything other than an Acura but HPD does lease a lot of engines in the IRL. Nissan is supposed to be coming on line with a V8... But as Graham said, it is all up in the air at the moment.

Wonder who the Porsche team will be in 2010 that has been a big Porsche player in the past? first thought is Penske but there's also Alex Job and TRG.

They're not exactly big ticket, but Orbit used run GT2 Porsches and are back in GTC right now. Perhaps they'll step up to a faster class next year.
