Well said Robert, we all have our likes and dislikes

La Sarthe at night is awesome, blows everything else into the weeds.

I remember in 1955 hiding under the bedclothes listening to Raymond Baxter commentating from Le Mans.
I remember leaning over the gate at at the Restaurant Les Hunaudieres just after midnight in the pre-chicane days (I think 1982).
I remember after the Le Mans Classic night practice in 2008 Gregory Noblet remarked "There are Ghosts"
To have the opportunity to walk on what some of us old duffers consider Holy Ground is priceless. To actually have the opportunity to compete there; well, I am afraid Patrick Peter can charge what he likes.

Superb!!!

Indeed it is, superb. I was blown away the first time I got to walk up that pitlane. It's never changed.
I shall be at both LM24s this year, and my big lad is doing his first Classic this year. I may even have the number 2 along as well...

They have filled a substantial number of grid slots with the expected acceptance of certain cars.Ones you would have thought would have been on first list.

Rest will be sorted at Retromobile and after.

Long way to go.

Not this time.I havn't spent enough money with them in last year and am not doing TA.Have had odd rejection letters which I expected. If you havn't had one of those you are still in mix.People were still putting in entries for decent cars last week.
Use French address?

I will be going to my first Classic this year, so I'll be looking out for the cars mentioned in this thread. Nice to have someone to root for!
I was just wondering about how the set up and scheduling differs from the 24hr. Is the circuit accessible on the Thursday? Specifically, can you drive on any of it, like you can on the Friday at the 24? My dad and brother-in-law will be making their first visit to La Sarthe and I would like to show them around as much as possible before the event.
Thanks

Don't think there is public access until the Friday - provisional programme available via the following link:

[QUOTE=john ruston;3003878]Goodwood is dangerous and most incidents are expensive for owners. The entry cost is irrelevant.
Le Mans is a proper historic race track as Monaco. Le Mans has run off areas and stuff like that. They don't make you dress in stupid costumes.Goodwood is held as one of the last bastions to perpetuate the British class system.QUOTE]

HUH HA, now I understand your objection to Goodwood John, can not bear to touch yer forelock....

Do not touch my forelock especially when I am paying for the honour of doing so.

In all cases the entrants are the customers and are needed so to get to any race meeting have spent loads of money and then being dictated to ****es me off.

That goes for all race meetings that take that attitude .

Should run out of meetings to go to by end of year except VSCC.Save me some dosh!

as opposed to LMC where you simply pay your entry fee and get a grid slot....

Historics increasingly seem to be more a case of histrionics....

The more successful the meeting the more dictatorial they become.

It's not only Goodwood but chances are LMC will be similar with oversubscribed grids. The old Masters management seemed to forget who was actually paying for a service.

Oldtimers got to be very Germanic so we stopped going there. That used to me my favourite meeting ten years ago.
