ST2, yes the four valve motor would send me broke, hence the chose of model.

The R1150GS is a great alround ride. Have spent a day in the saddle of one and was really impressed.

Good to see some other bike riders around here, it can get lonely some times.

Not impressed enough to choose it over the ST2?

No, I had a K1100RS for six years and wanted something sportier through the curves. The ST is a good compromise as a sports tourer, being more sports orientated, but still comfortable for an all day ride. It isn't the most powerful, with 68kws, but the sound makes up for that.

But if I did more dirt road riding, it would be my number one choice. BMW's are just so practicle. The K1100 was a daily ride (at the moment the Duke isn't) it did everything, ferried the kids around on it, did the shopping, took me to work. Rode for fun on the weekend. Went for longish trips.

I dobt you would be disappointed buying any model Beemer.

I'll have to take one for a test ride (1150GS) and then decide if I'm ready to give up the VTR. Its been a great bike but suffers from poor fuel range, 200 kays max. Not too good on a trip.

That's getting into sportster territory.

Not compatible with going outside town limits.

Well...I had to have the throttle pinned to keep up with the R1, ZX9R,etc .The twin did struggle at those slightly above legal speeds. Bt it was good fun!
