Silverstone WEC

I am marshalling the WEC for the first time this year. I was just wondering if we marshal for the full race or have a break. The reason I ask is because I will bring my camera if we get a break or leave it at home if we don't. cheers.

Normal thing is to marshal the whole race, but I'm sure if numbers are high enough, your poste chief could let you have some down time.

Thanks. Is there a chance for marshals to walk the pit lane?

Normal thing is a "stand down on post" rotation, so that if something major does happen, everybody is there to deal with it. It's a great meeting and you'll ind time passes pretty quickly. See you there.

I think there will be six at Silverstone (two Audis, two Porsches and two Toyotas). Audi have a third car entered in the championship; however, Jarvis, Albuquerque and Bonanomi will only do Spa and Le Mans.

- so that'll mean 2 at the top of the pit-lane, 2 at the bottom, and 2 in the middle ... next to the office

p.s. we're normally so short of bodies in the pit-lane we don't get any stand-down time either

There should be a few more of us in the pit lane this year! There still won't be enough to have one marshal per garage! (35 garages I think!).

I 'assume' that means you'll be joining us this year, so at least +1

I can't remember the last time there was a marshal per car - even when it was stipulated in the ALMS regulations.

When I did the Spa 24hr we had 3 or 4 cars each - more fun as we always lost some.

This will be my first event at silverstone (thought i'd better pay a visit after 3 years of marshalling) but i'd be happy to help out in the pit lane if needed (although i'm normally track it would be good to try something different)

Be very concerned if your 'team' turns up at your briefing in red shirts and keeps referring to you as 'Mr Moyes'.

On this note, who would be in charge of role allocations to let them know [officially] that I would be happy to do either role.

Trackside allocation will end up with Penny (penny.norris@silverstone.ac.uk) so best to let her know.
