Teams set up association for concorde agreement.
All the teams were represented (as was the local photocopy shop ) and apparently it was a very constructive meeting.

And here in official language: http://www.italiaracing.net/notizia.asp?id=20074&cat=1
Then there is the new Formula One Teams Association... Is FOCA gone then? It might be a wink to customer teams... |

it has always been rumoured that Ferrari's deal with FOM (just the commercial side) is more favourable then that of the deals with other teams.
so if Ferrari is now willing to bargain from the same spot as the other teams one has to wonder if that means Ferrari now feel that there is more money to be gained this way over and above what they could have gotten if they dealt with BE on their own. with Ferrari on board with the other teams and manu's, the possibility of a commercial agreement and a sporting code that actually favours the participants can only be a good thing. |

Meetings are to take place at Maranello on the last Tuesday of every month, which also coincides with the copy shops monthly 'two for one' discount policy. |

In F3 terms, FOTA stands for Formula Three Asssociation, so maybe FoTA would be a better acronym. I don't know about the website, though, because that's all lower case anyway. Maybe the F1 guys would like to buy it?!?

Is this a rebadged FOCA, or is it actually some genuinely new thing (with an actual difference in operation/objective/structure to FOCA)?
It'd be sweet if it did have some teeth with which it could strangle something reasonable out of Bernie-FOM/Max-FIA. What is FOTA's decision-making/voting structure? Will they actually be able to be a proper force to be reckoned with, or will it just stagnate in a perpetual state of "hung jury"? Whilst I would love to be believe in the possibility of progress, in all likelihood nothing at all will change. |
