What grade of oil to use in the winter?

Hi guys, what Grade of Oil would you recommended to use in the winter? I know that in the summer they are different thicknesses as its hotter.

What car have you got, what winter and use the same oil, this is 2007 not 1950.

Read the handbook that comes with the car, if you've lost it then ask at a main dealer - they seem to know what to put in it

I assume from your country flag that you 're in the UK? I'd be very surprised if any car manufacturer specified different oils for the seasonal variation in temperature we see here.

RTFM......or, if you haven't got that, try an oil company's website.

That's what my Dad told me..Its ok everything is sorted now, and its for the next few months as it will be cold then.

As said above there is no need to change your oil for the temperature variations in the England. What car are you talking about, anyway? How many miles do you do in one year? Make sure you change the oil (and filter) as often as the service book says.

More important is making sure that you have anti-freeze in your water system, although you should have this in the summer too to stop corrosion.
