2007 Aaron's 312 @ Talladega Busch Series Event Thread *SPOILERS*

Better late than never with the Busch thread, eh?

The Busch Series are teaming up with the Cup series once again at Talladega.

Track Specs: 2.66 mile oval, 33 degrees of banking in the turns, 18 degrees of banking in the tri-oval and minimal banking on the straightaways for drainage. Roughly 143,000 grandstand seats.

Looks like we won't get a full field, as there are just 42 cars entered. NASCAR.com has the entry list.

TV: Pre-race show on ABC starts at 2:30pm ET, April 28th. Green flag is scheduled for around 3:10pm ET.

My pick for the win: Tony Stewart

Some late news: After the Busch cars ran 197mph+ in practice NASCAR has decided to slow them down by mandating a smaller restrictor plate.

I'm listening to this race on radio.....I have to say, NASCAR does not translate to this medium terribly well!

NASCAR.com video page is showing an almighty shunt that Kyle Busch had. Got turned round by "Smoke" and flipped and rolled into the outside wall and then down to the infield across the chasing pack. Lucky escape! Lucky a wheel didn't get over the catch fence too, it got close.

Yeah. Tony Stewart tapped his right rear. He hit the wall so hard that he flipped on the rebound, slid on his roof down most of the backstretch, then barrel rolled several times once it reached the infield. One of his tires flew off, hit another car, and shot high into the air, but luckily didn't land anywhere that might have caused danger. Kyle is OK, but the car is toast.

Just got home after wasting roughly two hours seeing Sunshine at the cinema and watched the video of Busch's crash. That was one huge wreck. Also, the car was actually fully inverted even before he hit the wall, flipping over nearly identical to how Bobby Labonte flipped in the 2001 EA Sports 500 and how Johnny Sauter flipped in the 2002 Aaron's 312.

He was drafting in second place working with Harvick up front. Then he got caught in the middle of a three car wide scrap with no draft and fell back a lot. And I guess he lost places under yellow pit stops as well. (It's hard to tell by radio really).

Sounds like there has been a monster wreck just now!

Should be around a 4-5 lap shootout once they've gotten the mess cleaned up.

I'd be highly surprised if they make it to the finish without wrecking once more.

I wish I could see this race, it sounds an absolute stonking Talladega fare.

Getting underway shortly...

A 3-lap shootout will decide the race. This will get WILD.

Juan Pablo Montoya restarts in 10th. 20 cars are still on the lead lap.

This was Bobby Labonte's 10th NASCAR Busch Series win and his first since the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 at Darlington in 1998.

Juan Pablo Montoya finished 6th in today's race.
