Brands Hatch, March 19

Anyone here looking to enter the Sports Car and Saloon races being organised by MSVR at Brands Hatch on March 19? Or any FF1600 drivers for that matter...

would have done, and used it as a test race prior to the start of the T&RC series, but will be in Zululand getting a sun tan and topping up my knowledge on the Zulu Nation!
Means that holidays are out of the way before the racing season begins!!

Any details, Regs? Could be an interesting pre-season work out if my car is eligible

Worth contacting the organisers even if there isn't a class for you - they seem very amenable and proactive.

cheers, not like I'm planning to win anything, just could use a competitive run-out pre season to iron out the car's bugs and the driver's rustiness

Slightly off topic for a second, but if you pop into the Marshals Forum you will see a copy of the letter sent to all of us reference volunteering. It will give you the names of all the senior officials at MSVR. Clerk of the Course is David Scott.

So, what is the latest level of interest for this meeting? I think the FF guys have a few entries but I wondered what the saloons and GT's were like. Anyone have any idea?

The prices are good as well, £165 for 15 min practice and a 20 min race, why can't the clubs offer that kind of deal?

So have you entered for your first outing of the year? I'm marshalling and just wondered what grids are like.

Not yet, just deciding whether to be loyal to my normal race series or let my pocket rule and do this one and one on the 2nd of April.

Flat Out Farr should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi Nyssa 7, glad to find another racer in my neck of the woods. Was beginning to wonder whether all the locals just washed their BMW's and Mercs over the weekend, and polished their golf clubs, instead of getting out to play! Would be interesting if you have come across anyone useful that did bits for us racers locally, or other services, e.g. someone who can fit racing tyres on alloy wheels without damaging the alloys etc, or any other local info. E-mail me if you can, rather than talk on this forum.

Falcemob, other clubs have to pay for the hire of the circuit.
With the entry level that MSV had for there first meeting (Cadwell Park) NO other club could have run that meeting & not have made a huge loss.
Now I know that the racing club will have to pay MSV an ammount for the hire of the circuit but I will be amazed if it is the same as other clubs will pay.

See that link - Palmer confirms that MSVR will pay full market price for track hire.

flagwaver, I realise that the clubs have to pay for circuit hire but when MSV racing is up and running properly (probably losing money at the moment) entry figures should rival that of any club meeting.
On the price for this meeting and the 750MC meet 2 weeks later, £15 cheaper and 5 minutes longer per race is quite a difference, about 25% less for the MSVR unless my maths is flawed, thats going off cost per tracktime.
Or have I missed something?

edited to add:
The biggest problem is that this meeting and no doubt others will clash or be too close to the club meetings, as in my case.

Hope that means that those of us who already entered get the reduced price

Now, as I recall, MSV have stated they are paying market rate for track hire (from themselves) so if they can do a meeting at these kind of prices (and being still early in the year, not as many daylight hours as in summer - so less race slots than in summer), why can't the BRSCC do this kind of deal

£100 for 2 races and qualifying and they'd soon be oversubscribed

The reduced entry fee applies to all races, not just FF1600. Note that Super Silhouettes, Stock Hatch and RGB/Locost are not now running at the meeting.

£100 for two races eh, now why on earth did they cap it to 3000cc or I may have given it a go myself at that price.

Have you asked if they'll permit 3+ litre cars? If they are short on numbers they might let you in - although I guess it could be something to do with start number being linked to cc in some cases?

I know MSV are hoping for some full grids so it might be worth asking Tristan.
