So Christian Abt is out of the car, Basseng now on the #2. And Rocky replaces Basseng on the #1.

Does anyone know why Abt us out of the car?

Which race is more prestigous do you think? The 24 hours of Spa or the 24 hours of Nurburgring? I'm not really sure, what are your thoughts?

For me it has to be 24 Hours of Nuburgring, just for the sheer challenge of the track, let alone winning overall after 24 hours. Spa is a great track for sure, but the Nordschleife is on a whole other level.

Spa in it's heyday (2004-2009) was great but like so many other things under Ratel's control, it has faded into obscurity somewhat.

They still have a solid grid but it is mostly the usual SRO suspects, lacking many top drivers that can be found at sports cars' other top events.

The Nürburgring 24h basically has everything. Top notch drivers, teams, a stunning track, incredible atmosphere... Spa looks more like a national event in comparison.

Does anyone have experience with buying tickets at the track (Brünnchen) itself? I'm likely going, but as usually in Germany, ticket shops are useless: ADAC only has weekend tickets, eventim is charging shitloads of extra costs and the Nürburgring Shop doesn't even sell any tickets online. I'd like to know if there's a chance on Saturday that day tickets are sold out and if there will be extra costs to the tickets. Obviously I'd buy the tickets from the track, not some shady dealer, but I have no problem buying from a fan who has a ticket left over.

Thanks, hope anyone can help me!

@ miguel: it's no problem, to get a ticket trackside for cash. it's a wristband this for a free entrance at every trackside. it could be wet - be prepared! ;-)

Faded to obscurity???

With a full grid and works entries from Audi/BMW/McLaren it holds its own against any of the endurance classics

Lacking many top drivers????

Kristensen/Lotterer/Fassler in 2012..............etc., etc

The Nürburgring 24 is a fantastic race and not to be missed, but so is Spa 24..............I will be at both.

Thanks, that's good to know! I assume day tickets will also be available trackside? Also, do you have any idea what parking is gonna cost?

Rain might be a bit of a challenge, but I (and the camera) also survived last year's monsoon at the Spa 24h

Hopefully the car will reach the checkered flag.

Btw. "Morizo" is a nickname of Akio Toyoda. In 2009 he was the last time at the wheel of the L-FA. Another Lexus gave him an escort on track - not racing at all.

I know he is Morizo. He raced the LFA before they made the production model. If he is doing the same here I wonder what car he is 'seasoning'. Btw the LFA has won their SP8 class in the 24 before, and in VLN. Reliability should be good, but they will need to stay clean.

Swedish Brick has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Can't wait for the race, have Monday off so I can actually watch the end this time! Finishes early Monday morning here!

Any live streams announced yet? Maybe for the duration of the weekend a sticky can be made with streaming details so you don't have to troll though this thread to find them?

Black and white is also a color combination, Okay, not much colorful, but quite elegant in this livery.

Any Brits going over or anyone else for that matter, spread the word with Save the Ring, let people know this place could be sold to Hyundai or anyone else, could mean end of Tourist laps.

It is up for sale this week, for all our sakes we must keep it in public ownership, and have this amazing event every year that you all enjoy so much

Am hoping to get overt there next year, enjoy and spread the word!

Probably there will be a live stream of the race at:
www.24h-rennen.de
http://tv.sport1.de/player/player.php?id=s765428

The German sports-channel www.sport1.de make also a live-report of parts of the race. you can see the race at their homepage or at www.zattoo.com (> sport1). I think you have to use proxtube or something else "to watch from Germany."

Sport 1 will show:
Quote:
Freitag, 17. Mai 2013:
16:00 – 17:30 Uhr Live
20:00 – 23:54 Uhr Live

Samstag, 18. Mai 2013:
11:45 – 12:30 Uhr Live
17:15 – 18:55 Uhr Live

Sonntag, 19. Mai 2013:
16:00 – 19:00 Uhr Live
00:00 – 00:30 Uhr Live

Montag, 20. Mai 2013:
07:00 – 11:00 Uhr Live
13:00 – 18:00 Uhr Live
Nevertheless I think there will be no coverage at night, because of the darkness at the Nordschleife. But if you are there, at parts of the racetrack in the wilderness of the Eifel there is no webconnection for live-timing. Live-information of the race is everytime a kind of mystery - if you are there, at home or in the press-center.

Sometimes you read days later in the web, what happens to a car, which quit the race.

Btw. I won a ticket for the Nissan Race Camp to survive the rain. Fine.

I'm hoping for a radio signal of either Radio Le Mans or VLN at the back of the track, but that's probably futile.
