Sorry for the slow response Pete but have been a tad busy..

Horsepower, Grunt, Snot, GG's doesn't matter what you call it if you dont have it the rest of the clever stuff with setup etc means ZILCH! There is no doubt that balance and car set up are vital to going fast but unless there is something angry under the bonnet all you will have is a great turning and stopping slow race car....

Stones had it and won 3 championships and sold 3 seperate customer engine deals off it and now Uncle Tom is back everything is falling into place with Holden and with FPR there is no doubt Benson has left a significant impression. Anyone that does not except the value of grunt is kidding themselves FULL STOP.

BTW, a couple of Black and Silver cars are not going to badly this year with repeated straightline speed PB at every track so far this year. But that would not have anything to do with a certain Mr Hasted would it???

But bazil, what about not so long ago when the HRT cars were virtually unbeatable and it was general knowledge that some of the Ford teams had superior engine power. It didn't seem to do the Ford teams much good because all that seemed to happen is that they would merely try to use their power advantage to compensate for their inferior handling and then burn out those round, black things that attach them to the road.

I think you will find that said HRT/HSV guggernaught is being very tricky with the way they set the car up re: pinion angle..... go ask em

Not that long ago?? I think you will find their best results coincide with Uncle Toms influence. That said I dont recall a time in recent memory that HRT did not have top shelve GRUNT. I am not debating who has the most but the fact is if you dont have it you can forget it.

It does not matter how clever you are engineering the car including things like saucy "pinion angle" you will still only have a great turning and stopping slow race car if you dont have the loud bit.

However to go to the very front of the pack you need the whole nine yards, Driver, engine package, chassi and a solid committed hungry team.

Who has the best Engine power
I reckon Daniel Tamasi's Holden Calibra Sports Sedan has the most sniff of any Sedan race car in the country, that thing absolutely hauls a#$e down the straight bits and sounds super tough .....
