mtpanorama should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Allegedly the Sportwagon has been found to have the incorrect spec engine installed.

That sounds fun from a factory entry I had wondered how a car could be upgraded from one model to another, like the Sportswagon, the Hunter STi and similar

I can recall a problem with the works Volvo team some years ago, when they upgraded an 850R from one model year to an 850R T5, and the components had changed between years. The new car (for PB..) was different to the upgraded one, and there were some eligibility issues.

Any idea what century the official results might pop out?

Can you quote a reputable source or is this just a rumour?

The person who told me works for a team and has nothing to gain from spreading such rumors. Where he got it from I do not know.
It is the same person who put me onto the Wall evo issues though.

Has any of these "rumors" been made official yet?

The rules are you can upgrade a car but everything must meet the new model specs. Even cosmetic stuff. BTW the Hunter STi #44 is a genuine MY08 STi but I heard he is in the process of upgrading the WRX #66 to STi Specs 'cause CAMS in their wisdom make it run against EVO's and STi's. It was built to run against the Mazda MPS3 in the lower class.

Don't blame CAMS for the team making a dumb decision. It's always been the AWD performance car class and a hot hatch / 2wd class.

The WRX was always going to be competing with Evos.

Then why is the Audi TT AWD Turbo and Jaguar X AWD in the same class as the Mazda ? BTW 2010 class for Bathurst and Manufacturers Champ is Class C - Performance .... not Hot Hatch 2WD.

The entry list is less than crystal clear. I have no idea what they're doing with the X-Type (nor why anyone would race one) but I think the TT they're referring to is the original (mkII) 2.0T FWD - basically a dressed up Golf GTI.

I could be wrong though as the TT is a strange beast which can be had in six forms:

FWD 1.8T
FWD 2.0T
AWD 2.0 TDI
AWD 3.2 (VR6 like the Golf R32)
AWD 2.0T (TTS - bigger turbo than normal 2.0T)
AWD 2.5T (TTRS - five cylinders with turbo)

The TTS firmly belongs in class A. For class C you'd probably be looking at the standard 2.0T FWD car - pretty much the same as a Golf GTI.

But the WRX doesn't belong in class C anyway!
The current rex has all wheel drive, 195 kw and 343 Nm. It belongs in the High Performance AWD class with these cars:

Alfa 159 V6: 191 kW, 322 Nm
Alfa Brera: 191 kW, 322 Nm
Audi S3: 188kW, 330 Nm
Mazda 6 MPS: 190 kw, 380 Nm
Lancer Evo 8-10: 195-206 kw, 355-422 Nm
Liberty GT: 195 kw, 350Nm
Impreza STI: 221 kw, 407 Nm
Golf R32 184kw, 320 Nm
Passat R36 220kw, 350 Nm
Volvo S40 T5 162kW, 320 Nm

They're all roughly on par... except maybe the Volvo.

Update for ya'll

Quote:
The CAMS Stewards from the 2010 Bathurst 12 Hour would like to advise the following.

1 - The charge laid by Race Control against Car #2 Wilson Bros racing has been resolved with the Stewards receiving advice from the Category Technical Commissioner that after some review of the data from the MSE Data Logger the data was inconclusive and therefore the charge has been withdrawn.

2 - The 1st charge laid by Race Control against Car #38, Allan East was heard Wed 03/02/10 at CAMS NSW. Car #38 was found to be in breach of NCR183(ii) and as such was excluded from the results of R14 Bathurst 12 Hour. The Competitor, within the required time frame, lodged an intention to appeal the Stewards finding. The results from R14 Bathurst 12 Hour will remain provisional until such time that this matter is resolved. Inquires on the appeal should be directed to CAMS.

3 - The 2nd charge laid by Race Control against Car 38 Alan East has been resolved with the The Stewards receiving advice from the Category Technical Commissioner that after some review of the data from the MSE Data Logger the data was inconclusive and therefore the charge has been withdrawn.

4 - The Category Technical Commissioner has advised that the review of a sealed engine from the race has taken longer than expected but should be completed soon.

Regards

Well if you can not run a hotted up 7 litre you have to make do with a 6 litre.

I stand corrected if that is the case. Either at 6000cc or 6200 cc they are only suitable as a boat anchor.

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Having watched the show yesterday, I think that Herridge going into the back of the Hill car was inexcusable, it appeared to be that the Yellows had been waved for over 30 seconds at the time, and about half the field have successfully gone past the stricken car safely.

Especially when the 88 Black impreza was almost the last car past the stricken Evo and the driver had been told 3 times that there was a car in the middle of the road and Herridge/Morris were after him.

Mr Bowe narrowly avoided the incident as well. Herridge should be flogged for that...

anyway, looks like the GT3 cars will be joining the 12 hour next year. What are everyone's thoughts ? Personally I think it will ruin the race, having a dozen half baked GT3 cars bolting away into the distance. And the speed difference between those cars and the smaller class cars would be horrendous...

For the number of entries the GT3 guys could bring in, realistically, compared to the number of Production competitors that would walk away would be about level...

As most people would agree it would be great to see the GT3 in the 12hr but, you are right(in my book) that it could kill the event.

The speed disparity will not be an issue as it works all over the world (GT3 to base prod cars). Check out the Wakefield 300 or Queensland 500, W.A. 300. All ameteur events with large speed disparities and no accidents between cars( Wakefield 300 I know this the case but unsure of other events).
They need their own event with all GT4 and GT4 car from around the world competing against each other. But this is a discussion for another thread.

Wood-duck, that is probably a fair question to ask but driving under yellows & not being ready to avoid a hazard is a pretty cut and dried case IMO.

Overall quite an eventful race, not disappointed to miss that much rain but thinking of going back there next year now, if the entry & support card look as good as what they ought to be.

B24, do they have GT3's and Yaris'/diesels running together? Given the performance of the 335i and HSV wagon I am even having second thoughts about whether the M3/RS4/Cayman level of cars are needed.
