Al it's a shame you're not going to be there. I'm marshaling the 2 days, camping (stupid in this weather I know) Friday & Saturday night. Didn't fancy the drive from Rugby.
Thanks for explining the VMT as I was wondering as well. Looks like being a cracking 2 days. Looking forward to it as it's my first trip to Brands. Hope the cars are coming along nicely & I'll see you next season. Take it easy mate. Col |

Yeah thanks Col, they are coming on good I have two engines underway the one in the black car is repairable (I hope) and I have just had the crank welded, straightened and ground and the block is ok apart from a minor clout at the bottom of the bore which should not effect much so she will live again and the yellow car will hopefully have at least another 75bhp maybe more so I maybe able to get it up the sharp end a bit more often.
Below is the entry for the VMT, looks good doesn't, strange so many Victors though I thought there was only one in a race (crazy sods!). Class Race No Driver Entrant Car Capacity A 4 Victor Harrison Jaguar XJS 4000 A 23 Victor Lydall Jaguar XJS 5300 A 42 Victor Webster Jaguar XJS 4000 A 79 Victor Slater Jaguar XJ40 4000 B 29 Victoria Stevens BMW 735 3500 B 54 Victor Roper Rover SD1 3500 C 2 Victor Willcocks BMW M3 2300 C 5 Victor Busby Meldrew Special 2300 C 9 Victor Lark VW Corrado 2900 C 12 Victor Bull Metro Turbo 1397T C 14 Victor Innes BMW 325e 2700 C 15 Victor Sadler g BMW 325e 2700 C 25 Victor Payne BMW M3 2500 C 35 Victor Vickers Mazda RX7 2025 D 49 Victor Payne Sunbeam Ti 1600 D 55 Victor Roberts 205 Gti 1905 D 17 Victor Dockree Sunbeam Ti 1600 E 3 Victor Olive-Jones BMW 320 1998 E 8 Victor White BMW 320 1998 E 9 Victor Guiness BMW 320 1998 E 10 Victoria Oliver BMW 318 1800 Lenny Oliver in race 2 E 19 Victor Smith BMW 320 1998 E 26 Victor Hebditch VW Golf Gti 1600 E 27 Victor Melling Fiat Punto 1242 E 33 Victor Smith BMW 318 1800 E 39 Victor Fletcher BMW 320 1998 E 43 Victor Nixon VW Golf Gti 1600 E 46 Victor Tillotson BMW 320 1998 E 52 Victoria Loysen BMW 2002 1998 E 62 Victor Cormode BMW 320 1998 E 92 Victor Wilson BMW 320 1998 Tim Wilson in Race 2 E 95 Victor Colley BMW 320 1998 |

Small update on the VM Challenge Trophy or as it shall henceforth be known "The Meldrew"
1) It wasn't just on the CTCRC forum that Al's moaning inspired this event. Just check out his posts here 2) Race 1 is a 20 minute scratch race. This will also be the basis for the Meldrew Ailments handicap. Subset shown at the bottom of this post. 3) Race 2 is a staggered start handicap race. This is to provide those at the tail end of the first grid, the same opportunity to take the flag as those at the front. 4) Alan Cherry - pm me if you would like an entry - I've just had one fall out. 5) Following the thread on cheating in Historic racing, we have retained Nurse Gladys to conduct driver scrutineering in a small but well equiped facility next to the vehicle scrutineering bay. Despite much media pressure we have determined not to release the ensuing video evidence. Unfortunately we cannot be responsible for the errant posting of such evidence on youtube. Small update on the entry list shown below. Class Race No Driver Entrant Car Capacity A 4 Victor Harrison Jaguar XJS 4000 A 23 Victor Lyddall Jaguar XJS 5300 A 42 Victor Webster Jaguar XJS 4000 A 79 Victor Slater Jaguar XJ40 4000 B 29 Victoria Stevens Werthers BMW 735 3500 C 2 Victor Willcocks Horlicks BMW M3 2300 C 5 Victor Busby Nurse Gladys Meldrew Special 2300 C 9 Victor Lark Sanatogen VW Corrado 2900 C 12 Victor Bull Metro Turbo 1397T C 14 Victor Innes INRO Racing BMW 325e 2700 C 15 Victor Sadler Archie Racing BMW 325e 2700 C 35 Victor Vickers Curly Wurlies Mazda RX7 2025 D 26 Victor Hebditch VW Golf Gti 1600 D 43 Victor Nixon VW Golf Gti 1600 D 55 Victor Roberts 205 Gti 1905 D 63 Victor Collins Astra GTE 1998 D 64 Victor Dockree Sunbeam Ti 1600 E 3 Victor Olive-Jones BMW 320 1998 E 8 Victor White BMW 320 1998 E 9 Victor Guiness BMW 320 1998 E 10 Victoria Oliver BMW 318 1800 Lenny Oliver in race 2 E 19 Victor Smith BMW 320 1998 E 25 Victor Chubb BMW 320 1998 Nick Amey in Race 2 E 27 Victor Melling Fiat Punto 1242 E 33 Victor Smith Comma Oils BMW 318 1800 E 39 Victor Fletcher BMW 320 1998 E 46 Victor Tillotson BMW 320 1998 E 49 Victor Payne Sunbeam Ti 1600 E 52 Victoria Loysen BMW 2002 1998 E 62 Victor Cormode BMW 320 1998 E 92 Victor Wilson BMW 320 1998 Paul Wilson in Race 2 E 95 Victor Colley BMW 320 1998 Victor Meldrew Ailments Handicap Points will be scored as follows The difference between the drivers best and average lap time subtracted from 3 will multiplied by : Half the drivers age Age (May be checked at signing on) Multiplied by Half the drivers weight in kilos (Scales will be available in Parce ferme qualifying) The resulting figure will be added to Length of marriage (Certificate may be required) Multiple cerrtificates will be accepted. Mileage driven to the event from registered home address (Subject to equivalence factor.TBA) Foreign based competitors will have their distance added in kilometres. Looks fantastic, a full grid and cheap racing too. Looking forward to it.
I take it I can throw in some other ailments I forgot about when I filled in the form? I presume I lobby you John? I'll park up next to you to make sure I get all day to argue.. ;-) Also looks like a great intro for Pre-93 Touring Cars in 2008. Stacy |

All lobbying to be done via Nurse Gladys Stacy.
I'll ask her to bring the long rubber gloves |

But we have a number of heavy headed, multi stitched, broken limbed, migraine suffering, long married, portly athletes entered Al.
Enough to give young Eric a run for his money methinks |

Ahhh..... but we have another driver who appears to have been run over by a tank. More titanium rods, plates, screws and bolts than an F1 car, along with x-ray evidence of broken bones and a stitch list that would get him an embroidery degree. That's without the eye watering details regarding his landing from a great height astride a pointed fence. The man's a living miracle.
Keep your money for replacing the next bits to fall off the Camaro Al. |

Just to warn you. If you do decide to dump it in the gravel then i want a huge bellow of "I don't believe it!" When the orange clad Victoras get to you.

Wonder who will be first to moan about the weather, the queue for scrutineering, the price of the food, the oil or gravel on the track, etc. Wish I could find a car and join in!!!

OK,OK what no one is allowing for is the fact that I have the original person that Victor was based on i.e Tim Victor Falce the first,to seal it I also have one of the orange men in the rotund shape of Roger Victor Lindley who weighs in at 24 stone, the most miserable MOT tester in the southeast,I reckon he will be at Clearways, waiting for his doughnuts,(a little bit of bribary here)does that count at all.

Only if you bring enough for every Victor Marshal on the circuit (Tescos willing of course). Blimey, I may have to change my mind and come along on Sunday now

Wondered when you might finally appear Vic. Bring Margaret down and present the prizes. Better still, send Margaret and stay at home. Last edited by johnw; 7 Nov 2007 at 14:24. |
