[BARC SE] Tin Tops 2008

Anyone know what's going on with Tin Tops next year? I see they ran a lot of amalgamated races last year including in with DMN at times. Is it expected to have bigger grids next year and run on its own? I think my car would do well in it just interested to hear what the story is for 2008. Find it hard to find any info on the BARC website

Thanks,

Sam

As far as I know Sam, the rules are to be exactly the same as this year. I think the reason for running stand alone or combined races is economic - If there are enough cars to fill a grid, they can have their own race e.g Lydden, if not e.g Silverstone they have to combine with DMN - I'm sure someone from the committee will be along in a minute to give the true story !
What are you planning on running next year ?
I could be delaying my start for next season until June ( New Kitchen and Bathroom required to be allowed out to play ). If I get the engine on the Astra repaired, I'll be out in T2 in the Tintops. If it's not sorted by then I'll probably run the Rover Tomcat in class B of the DMN for a few rounds - It won't be competitive but at least I'll be able to run slicks rather than the sh*te 1A tyres that I've got fitted on it at the moment ( although Rover is really for the RCN series ). If I can escape Bathroom installation duty, I'll be around earlier helping my Brother in T1 ( another Tomcat, but a 'real' one plus about another 100 bhp ) and my cousin ( not sure if DMN or Tintops yet ) in my old Fiesta (T2 if Tintops - class C if DMN ).

And here I am...

All the regs etc can be round in the reglations part of the South East Section of the website. At work so can't go hunting for the link. Regs are remaining unchanged.

What Alan has said re the grids is right. If we get enough cars we can run the tin-tops on their own. Also we will run them with DMN where the grids can take a large amount of cars so that we can take the tin-tops to the bigger circuits and not just run them at Lydden. So the more cars we get the more chance you have of having your own race.

Well, for the info of those interested I will be running a 1.7 8V Alfa Romeo 33 on Dunlop D98s so class T2 if I figured it out correctly.

I was looking at DMN but having found this championship I think the car will be more competitive here, certainly going by the data I have that came with the vehicle.

Glad you found the regs eventually.

The 2007 regs can be found below for anyone else looking for them.

Had a go at a couple of rounds and was well of the pace of the DMN cars and most of the TinTops.

Although rain is a great performance leveller!

carrera you did have a couple of class wins with us this year, and you were having a good dice with the other Citroen at Brands.
Can I add that there will be a sponsor for the tin tops in 2008. There will be a new venue to visit, and hopefully the team challenge against CSCC will happen again.
Bill Richards is re-shelling his tin top Mini, which might see other drivers in it during the year.
A new lady driver is joining in with a Fiesta, and expect another Proton on the grid.

The point I was trying to make was although slowest of 4 Tin Tops at Snett in the dry found some DMN guys to play with and with a wet race 2 was 1st TT home so competitiveness depends on many factors.

Enjoyed all the races due to the number of cars out there, it would not have been the same with just a few TTs.

For the record, 2 DMN rounds, 2 different cars, 4 races, 4 TT class wins, 4 TT class fastest laps.

Excellent. A growing grid can only be a good thing. Can't wait

2008 entry?

Hi, is there anywhere I can see the 2007 results and lap times - I've got an old xr2 that I may be interested in entering with next year

Thanks

Mark
