dublinguy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Chevron B53

To the best of my knowledge this is a chassis that was built by Robin Smith in Scotland in 1981 . It was believe made from a B48/B49 tub that was bought from Derek Bennets firm. It raced in Ireland driven by Gary Gibson first in Phoenix Park in September 1981 and then in the 1982 season (see B42 thread). (Thanks to Dan Rear for his knowledge)

I wonder where it is now, didn't it go Climbing/Sprinting with Robert McGimpsey later?

And what about the Sekiya B56??

Wasn't Robin Smith the owner of Chevron at the time? After all the B47/48/49 cars were designed and built after Derek Bennett's death.

I think you will find TS "advised/consulted on the design. I saw one of these ( 53 or 56) I think, at Hall and Hall some years ago, the car was yellow and had proper rocker arm/inboard damper rear suspension on what looked like a 48 tub.

On ORC results, in the October 82 Oulton FAt race, Gibson apparently races a 'B56'. Anyone know whether this was actually the B53, or really the Sekiya B56 from earlier that year. Pics would be great.

Both Autosport and the programme have it as a B56. Alan Cox might have a picture...

Didn't Andreason make the odd FF1600, B72 rings a very vague bell. Again purely from memory, wasn't there talk of a FF2000 too, presumably based on the 1600??

Re Gibson and the B56, perhaps he hired/borrowed it from Scotland, after Sekiya used it a few times that year. Not a bad looker IIRC, with a smooth
'RT4-type' nose rather than the 'B48-like' one on the B53.

I'll see if Alan C has any pics of the car at the next Northern TNF meet next week.

Alan does have a pic of the Sekiya B56 now, I gave it to him! Its a pretty poor one I took of a Mallory 1982 F At grid, with a wonderful 8 starters, sure Alan will post it for me soon, on the other place.

There are no topless waitresses on TNF and the drinking hours are strictly controlled. Also you are not allowed to smoke.
In no way are these appropriate conditions for social life.

It is a waste of time trying to explain things to Drifty once the sun is over the yardarm!

Once the photo is posted elsewhere I have no doubt it will find its way onto this thread!
