The top story will always be about him, no matter what he does, he will always be the top story.

Like it or not his last name is Earnhardt which is a pretty significant name in NASCAR World. Leaving the organization his father founded was truly a big deal for Dale Jr. as well as for those who've supported the Earnhardts for about six decades. I'd say Jimmie Johnson got his fair share of media attention in 2007.

Jr is by far the most popular driver in Nascar. As in any sport the most popular people get the most media coverage. The 2008 season will be important to Jr. He is now with a first class organization and will have top equipment. The pressure is on Jr. I for one am willing to give him a chance to show what he can do with the opportunity, I believe he will do well.
On a personal note Jr is a good guy and treats the people around him well.
As Sparky stated, the Earnhardt name is one of the most significant in Nascar. For me, I never get tired of reading about him.

I dont. I think he will struggle to live with his team mates. In my opinion Jnr is not in the same class as Gordon and Johnson and he is certainly not in the same class as his father was. I do hope he proves me wrong, though! It would be great for NASCAR to have an Earnhardt at the top of the sport again. And i don't doubt for a minute you will be here, serving me my own words garnished with a green salad and some chips. And i would humbly eat them! Jnr is a great driver, but NASCAR is full of great drivers, he needs to be better than that. His dad was, but he isn't.
in my opinion.

The beautiful thing about the coming season is - unlike the Schumacher years in F1 - we'll find out! Three of the top drivers in the same team... can't wait!!
FWIW I've always liked Jr. Admittedly the press coverage can get a little tedious on occasion but, as JG said recently, Nascar needs more characters. You can't blame Jr for being a character. We just need a few more

There are few drivers anywhere that are as good as Jeff Gordon and for sure not in Nascar. Jimmy Johnson looks like he may be one of the best that have driven in Nascar, but time will tell. No, I don't think that Jr is as good as Gordon but he will still be good enough to compete for Championships, IMO. Again, time will tell but the upcoming season looks to be one of excitement.
Bring on Daytona.

I'm not a Dale Jr fan in the true sense of the word "fan". His dad is another story. The walls in my computer room are lined with Dale Earnhardt posters. I have a #3 sticker and license plate on my car. Dale Jr is not his dad and that's fine with me. I like the kid because he's not trying to be something he isn't. He's a nice young man who lives in the huge shadow of his dad and there's nobody who can adequately fill those shoes. Nobody. Clobbering him for the media hype that he only earned because of his last name is not only a silly exercise but is also a waste of time. I wish him well.

Its not really a dig at him, it's a dig at the media. A driver changing teams is not a huge news story when you stack it up against NASCAR telling teams to use a totally diferent car or a Japanese manufacturer joining the series. When i look back over 2007, i will not remember it because Jnr stopped racing for his step mum, because, i don't think it is going to make a hell of a lot of odds to anyone.
