Silverstone is 8 miles from me. My office is there, so it helps to live close...

Zolder is only 15 miles away from where I live. Or Spa at only 50 miles.
My UK home tracks are obviously Lydden and Brands, only a few hours away.
In Germany it is the Nürburgring, only 30 miles away from the office.

Around here we base "how far" on hours of travel, not on miles or kilometers. Don't know why, we just do.

So, if driving:
Mission, in the Fraser Valley: 45 minutes
Pacific Raceway (SIR), south of Seattle: 3.5 hours + border
Portland Int'l Raceway: 5 hours + border
Spokane: 9 hours + border
Edmonton (street course): 13 hours over the mountains
Laguna Seca: 16 hours + border

Is it any wonder I mostly fly to races?

Brands is about half an hour for me and Arena Essex is about 10 / 15 mins.

Used to be Castle Combe, and before that Thruxton.

it really depends on what you mean by "track":

30 miles from Road Atlanta AND Lanier Speedway (3/8 mile asphalt oval); they are across the highway from each other.

Peachstate Speedway (1/2 mile Asphalt Oval) is closer, 25 miles.

Winder-Barrow Speedway (3/8 mile Clay Oval) is closer at 20 miles.

The now closed Athens Speedway (1/4 mile? Clay Oval) WAS even closer at @ 5 miles.

numerous other clay ovals are scattered about...and there is a bigtime drag strip somewhere close too.

as a side, Brands was the closest track to the airport where i landed on my one and only visit to the Motherland...so it was straight to the track from the airport; only stop was for gas or petrol (whatever you want to call it), and a pint at the Brands pub.
