Lotus 107 and 109
Hello,
I am in the process of researching the Lotus 107-109 and am trying to locate the remaining chassis. To the best of my knowledge I believe chassis 3 was destroyed with Pedro Lamy’s accident at Silverstone in May 1994. I am also aware that both a 107B and a 107 were present at last year’s Grand Prix Live event at Donnington but sadly I have no confirmation which chassis numbers these were. Can anyone help me locate these cars? Many thanks Paul |

Sometimes these guys know but are very elusive about being forthcoming with info F5000s etc don´t seem a problem but people seem VERY prickly about later F1 cars.............. |

Hi Paul,
I can help you also with that I believe, as we have quite some data about the last days of Team Lotus. As we all know the Team was really starting to run out of money around that time with the cosworth claims on their shoulders. So Lotus didn't have almost any spare parts for the 109s. So ironically they tested with the 107c's. In fact Pedro never drove a Lotus 109 as far as I know, as we all know it really was a very big shunt he had that day at Silverstone. When the mechanics first drove around the circuit they even didn't found him. the car flew over the armco and barriers and had almost disappeared into a pedestrian tunnel under the circuit. Pedro was very lucky he had "only" broke his legs. It really looked horrible, so I am told by a former Team Lotus chief mechanic. The car in which Pedro had the accident was fixed afterwards, into a show car. And still exists. The cars at Donington are from driftwoods Dad, so he can help you with those I think. Regards, Gert |
