Mad Mark's Xsara on 5th Gear

Just to let you all know i am promoting rellycross. On Thursday 24th July I took the xsara to Bellevue stadium as part of a the television shoot for Fifth Gears new series.

After tuition and demo Tiff Needell drove the Xsara in a race against A world champion speedway bike. Tiff also raced Frankie wainmans Formula; one stock car and a rage buggy to see if he could beat the speedway rider.

Obviously we cant tell you the outcome as you will have to watch the new series to see. All we can say the the Rallycross xsara came out as the fastest challenger and handled extremely well on the Speedway Oval.

Tiff were very pleased and surprised at the acceleration and handling of the car. Hope fully people will see it and became interested and intrigued with our sport which can only be good

Worth a watch, can remember watching Squibby race against a speedway bike at Poole about 15 years ago, he came off second best as I recall.

Mad Mark,

That sounds really interesting, can't wait to see that on TV. Good bit of publicity in the mainstream!

I saw your car on sale at Rallycross.com - unfortunately I don't have 140000 Euros spare (what with the banks not loaning much anymore and the strength of the Euro!!!) - but just wondered if this meant the end to your rallycrossing for now, or if you were moving on to something else (maybe one of the plethora of GT's supercars!)

I hope it is the latter.

Definitely not givign up need to build on two successful years, we have decided to sell the xsara evebn though it is homologated for a couple more years yet and invest in a completely new machine. We are looking around and have negotiations on a new vehicle and a new sponsor.

Cool stuff Mark

Great to see you have done some promotionaswell, I know Frankie pretty well, did he have a go aswell?

And most importantly did you have a go in his F1, would be more powerfu than Xsara I imagine!!

Any clues as to new vehicle? Give us a country at least!!

That is good thing just let us know when Discovery will air it!

A couple of years ago I wrote too Top Gear and asked them to put a top spec Division 1 car on the show and let the Stig do a round around their track. I claimed it would beat all of them (even on road tyres).

Now that they have a car under the 1m17s, I doubt that... That 500kg / 500bhp thing they had was quit fast! But still it would be great to see just a Skoda, Citroën, Peugeot, Ford, Opel or Saab beating the crap out of an Enzo! And it would reach Millions!

I would of offered Mark having previously serviced for Ken Hall when he went Rallycrossing, and now help The Mighty Bullet on the Croft events but I am away in Cumbria for the Pendragon Stages
