Minicross424 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Great weekend for me racing on the Saturday (Im the only Mini in the village (Lydden) ha ha).
Super battles and the new dampers were amazing so huge thanks to Lee Mcnair for setting those up.
Great Job by the barc the whole weekend and hope its on next year.

Robert Morris has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Tris would be great if next year the 2 events dont clash then we can do both with ease.

MSV organised a supper weekend at Brands, with lots happening all weekend on and off the track, im sure 2013 will be even better, so keep that date free.
Excellent news that MSV rated the w.e a success and here's hoping that there is no date clash with the Lydden Festival next year.
Certainly was an intense meeting for all the usual suspects here.We had lost the immensely quick Mondo Min in Friday testing which was a great shame. I'm sure Leigh and Gerald will be back next year to settle unfinished business. The purple clan had a bit of a rebuild in getting James out on Sunday, Ken had drive shaft issues and we had a corroded fuse which dropped the voltage to the ignition ecu in Mig race 1 and stopped Chris with six laps to go.But what close racing.Chris qualified just under a second off Peter Baldwin's pole and was 13th(!) on the grid. I'm sure he learned more about racing a Min in the two Mig races than all the other races he has done so far.We may have some in-car video which we will post up later. It was good to see Gavin up to his usual tricks, changing an engine and covered in engine oil.And what a friendly and helpful crowd the Mini people are. Nobody told me to get lost (well, not to my face anyway) as I hawked various broken parts around the paddock looking for spares. All in all a great weekends racing but right now I need a rest!

Glad you enjoyed it Richard and Chris it was the place to be if you had a mini for sure.
It was good the mini 7 club had the invitation class which allowed the likes of your mini to join in. I do hope that they will do it again next year.
I think we should also mention the fact that no less than 4 drivers went sub 55 seconds and setting a new lap record of 54.736 in the hands of Paul Thompson during race 9.
Purple racing would like to thank those that helped James get back on track following his vist to the gravel at paddock during practise.

Fantastic weekend for all mini enthusiasts. Thanks to all who helped with the left front issue, you know who you are. And what a great show by all the various types of race minis.

Thats why I wont modify steering columns or brake pedals when they fail it results in a big bang.

Will next years Mini festival have the Mighty and Super Mighty Minis there? that way the Radical races etc can be done away with might be worth getting Rodger Tello involved as he has organised these before. Also a proper Fastest mini race would be good as the public always like to see the monster stuff out there. I dont know why there were not more spaceframes there, a few said they were going but did not materialise. If owners know early enough then they could make it, could be good with the special saloon revival that is going on and with the modern z-cars spaceframes etc.

They didn't get much wrong over the w.e. but in the Allcomers Race and the following champion of Champions race they did. The grid for the Allcomers showed it as a handicap, which no-one was expecting. They got Bill at the back with +40secs but, frankly, got the rest of the grid wrong with a lot of slower lapping cars in the middle and Chris on the front wrong. It appears that once published they have to stick to the grid as printed. They then applied some additional handicapping in the form of extra laps which nobody understood. It was the end of a long w.e and everybody came away a bit bemused by it all and I think Bill was naturally a bit aggrieved especially as he had made such an effort to race at both BH and Lydden. I'm sure they will get it right next year.

Just have a fastest mini race with various classes (spaceframes, migs, BMW minis, supers, modified saloons etc) and be done with it. Everyone remembers the KAD car, Rollcentre Jack Knight cars etc. Spectators want to see fantastic enginered cars with top drivers battling it out not a false race.

Glad everyone had a good weekend, sounds like a great start and hope the 2013 event goes ahead.

Have to agree with the comments on the open race format, I'd be interested in racing in that. Although I think the days of international entries from Japan etc are a thing of the past, thanks to the economic climate.

Also, combining with the Mighty Minis always produced a good event.

But, always politics with these things I suspect

Tris you had the oportunity to race in three different race at the weekend.
ie: Migs x2 , all commers, and the challange at the end of the day so there was lots of oportunity.
Why do we need yet another format?

Im talking about the fastest Mini in the world race (as Leemig mentioned) Rob nothing to do with the weekend format that, you have known for a long time I was not going to do as it clashed with the barc.
