A MIDDLE Eastern double header could be on the cards for the V8 Supercars Series with the success of the Desert 400 in Bahrain prompting officials to look at staging another round in the region.
|
if they run with this the teams will all need to take at least one spare car.

Could soften the blow of the travel costs if they simply ship the cars between Bahrain and the other venue (Dubai Autodrome or that one in Qatar are probably most likely) and have the races next to each other in the calendar. As for Singapore ... aren't there TV reasons why the races on the undercard of the Aussie GP are non-championship, and wouldn't the same apply for the undercard of the race in Singapore - I doubt they would want to have two street circuit events there each year.

I thought it would be more to do with Bernie not wanting to share a championship round wth F1

Carrera Cup, GTs and Aussie Racing Cars have been rounds of their respective championships at the AGP meetings!

Or more likely the demands of the BW - 'We must have our own pit area'!
Also consider that the V8's are an FIA International Series - maybe someone else can look up the requirements that need to be put in place to run them on the same round as F1.

How can the Desert 400 be a success when there looks to be about 400 people there ???? Is that why it's called the desert 400 ???? It's named after each spectator that attends

Wasn't it hinted at that one of the 2 Bahrain rounds would be a double international header with another, as yet unnamed track, being the second (or first) of two consecutive fly-a-way rounds?

Most fans watch the v8s on TV so for them to watch a race in Qld or Singapore wouldn't make alot difference really.

Since there are very few people attending in the day time... could a night event make more sense... to get it into prime time Sunday in Australia?
