Two Gallardo GT2's confirmed:
Quote:
Mik Corse To Test Soon New Lamborghini Gallardo GT2
The Italian team will enter two units and continue also in the GTS category
One of the most interesting and awaited novelties in the 2009 International GT Open will be the new Lamborghini Gallardo GT2, which will mark the debut of the Italian constructor in the top category, the Super GT following a string of successes in GTS (7 wins in 2008).
The team that will enter the new machine is very naturally Mik Corse, which has been actively involved with the Gallardos in GT3. Claudio Rossetto, the head of the Padua-based squad, confirmed: "The cars are currently being assembled in Austria at Reiter Engineering, which oversees the project from a technical point of view. We should be on a track for the first tests in the last week of January and we are impatient to gauge the potential of the car".
Mik Corse intends to enter two Gallardos GT2, with prominent drivers, while it will not abandon the GTS category, where another two cars at least will be present.

The sticker on the Chad Racing Porsche seemed to indicate that they were running International GT.

Entry list looking good so far then, some good teams have allready signed for this year. For me International GT open has nicely taken the place of the Euro GT series from a couple of years ago, the only differnce is that International GT open is far more sucessful.

I think there are numerous series going about their usual business at Donington this year, best guess is the parts of the construction/destruction that interrupts the racing will be started this coming winter (which is how they did the new pit buildings a couple of years ago).
I'd be very interested to know with whom they are sharing Donington on that particular weekend?

With all these quality teams coming to GT Open, the series may very well become Europe's #1 GT-series if the new FIA GT1-rukes turn out to be a huge mistake.
With Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo/Corvette/BMW/Aston all being in the GT2-game next year, GT Open might become absolutely stellar in 2010 once some of those cars filter down to the lesser series!!

Yep
IIRC GT Open is a pro/am series. Is this correct? So that's an disadvantage compared to FIA GT.

Currently the BMW is not allowed in FIA GT and LMS, but it would not surprise me if it's welcome in GT Open. Their rules are a bit more liberal, for example the Sunred and Mosler race against the Porsches and Ferraris in GTA class. Roal Motorsport (Ravaglia) entering a BMW M3 GT2 in 2010?

shame that more and more teams are leaving both LMS and FIA GT for this GT Open, yes its a good series but it doens't have the glamour and prestige of the other 2
