4 Cylinder Falcon
Maybe four-cylinder turbocharged engines could come into play for the Car of Tomorrow?
4 Cylinder Falcon coming: Click here
I know it is not a V8, but it would keep the Greenies off our backs.

The Bathurst 1000 is traditionally for production based cars so I hope they don't race this COT in that race!

I would suggest most greenies would be opposed to motorsport despite the capacity of the cars competing.

Why build a V8SC COT, there's nothing wrong with the current. If they are too much of a danger for the environment just use S2000's instead.

Quintin, i think the intention is to cut costs and to make it easier for a 3rd manufacturer to enter, plus there is an increased safety issue

S2000 is the perfect solution apart from that standard engine rubbish

I'd be interested to see a cost comparison between S2000 and the current v8 set up.
Why does it matter about ultimate lap time? Shouldnt we be more focused on the on the racing?

I seem to recall that one of the reasons that the BTCC is going away from S2000 is that costs have ballooned on building those cars. I may be wrong but that's my recollection.
Even if they were cheaper, they'd be nothing special as they are now - horrible buzzy little engines with half the power of the current cars, FWD etc.
Maybe use the idea as a basis for something more interesting?

The BTCC is bringing in a new format maybe that will be the trick?
- More powerful turbocharged engines.
- Return to the iconic big sedans (Vectra, Accord etc), no more small hatchbacks.
- Spec assemblies for "boring" bits to reduce costs.
- FWD only: no parity politics, no BMWs
Certainly would be worth a try as an 'alternative' series downunder? between the minimalist Fujitsu series and the strictly gentleman racer GT series there are plenty of good drivers and teams without a place to race.

Is Skaifey really tasked with designing the Car of the Future?
Wouldn't it be a good idea to get an independent engineer type (Ceprinich?) to do that and have input from all the teams?
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/conten..._entering_v8s/
Toyota missed the chance to enter with the best team (888) that already had full sponsorship (reducing Toyota's spend considerably!) -> they ain't gonna be in V8s.

Interest comment from Toyota that they would rather enter in a partnership that would promote there current range. So how do they explain those rally cars running in the ARC??
They'll never come into the sport, they sell enough Camry's without any racing pedigree attached. What they've done in NASCAR was to target another demographic, and tying to prize away customers from the gas guzzling GM, Fords and Dodge's. How many Kyle Bush supporters sold there GM pick ups and bought Toyota Tundra's, and how many of those where dead set GM only drives?? That sort of marketing works in the USA, not so much here, given the amount of Holden supports who said they where going to throw out all there Lowndes gear when he jumped ship the first time.
All the manufacture b/s aside, at the end of the day all they're going to do is standardize the current two chassis that are built, which are pretty much the same anyway, and make sure that you can either hang Holden, Ford or Skoda panels off it.
One great big standardization and control component exercise......
