AFAIK they're there on Saturday anyways, so I wouldn't imagine it would crank the OB cost up all that much.
I'm not sure that it would lead to live ITV1 coverage at every round, but possibly some on alternate days ?

This came up earlier in the thread I think, there's only a small TV crew at the circuit on a Saturday, nothing like the personnel that are there on a Sunday. Alan Gow has stated a few times that getting decent coverage on the Saturday would be prohibitively expensive, so I'm pretty certain it's not going to happen.

There's only a skeleton crew there on Saturday. Usually one roving cameraman/soundman in the paddock to record the interviews to tape and a few riggers finishing off the trackside camera towers.
Showing live qualifying would mean manning every camera position, plus director, producer and all the other production crew, plus of course the satellite uplink time. That's far from a minor increase in costs.

Not to mention the fact that many of the ITV crew (certainly the presenters anyway) are engaged elsewhere on several of the Saturdays.

So who are the people operating the cameras on Saturdays for the races that are recorded for Motorsport UK etc... ? Isn't the entire event covered by the same production company ?

I don't know who provides that coverage - presumably the same people - but I go to most of the events on both days and can say for definite that none of the camera positions are manned for most of the Saturday (there's usually someone in one of them for the actual qualifying session, which is the footage that Louise does her qualifying round up over). Given that the Saturday races happen after BTCC qualifying, they probably keep that post manned. There's also a small crew in the pitlane doing interviews. That's pretty much it.
Remember there's only usually 2 or 3 races on the Saturday, I would imagine the vast majority of what's in Motorsport UK comes from the Sunday (don't forget, the live ITV broadcast doesn't show every race from the Sunday).

Some people are soo impatient, calm down James
It's obviously going to be some sort of driver/team confirmation, as we're too close to the start of the season for any regs changes, unless they're for 2011 of course, but I doubt that'd be the earth shattering news. As my Mum always said when I asked if dinner was ready, "It'll be ready when it's ready"

Sorry, it's just my cynicism over TcT. To be frank, there are more reliable touring car sources out there...

Perhaps they are waiting for the story to be confirmed? Until then, like the rest of us, you will have to wait...

autosport.com is usually on the mark... though they do take their time before publishing. If you want news fast, go elsewhere but expect it to be unreliable at times.
Rumors are what keeps us in business, what else would we talk about for 5 months of the year

I don't know about that. Remember the story they put up a couple of weeks ago about Fiat Punto's in the BTCC, which they failed to even check the most basic details about??

But you obviously take note in what they say Jamesy-18???
They are all as reliable as one another.
Most of them have printed dodgy stories. As davyboy says, what would you do without them 5 months of the year?
