Shinya Nakano has retired - did a press conference in Tokyo before final round of Jap SBK championship...
Always thought Shinya was the better of the Yamaha Tech 3 boys when Jacques beat him to the 250cc title back in 2000...

Was onl really better as the bike was desigend around home from racnig in in Japan for years beforehand, much like Harada and Katoh on thier bikes.
Has been awful for years in honesty and shoudl have maybe retired after GP career whimpered out to nothing.

I'm really liking the look of the 2010 grid, especially the seven factory teams. Two former champions, 3 former runners-up including the eternal bridesmaid Haga, probably the current and a former British champion, the reigning World Supersport champion, two former MotoGP race winners.... just need some really good young riders to back up Rea and Fabrizio now.
Smrz is staying with Guandolini, by the way.

Said he had lost motivation. Doesn't have anything lined up, but wouldn't rule out a return to racing.

Did he have a hissy fit when it transpired he would not be taking over Ducati MotoGP effort?

Shane Byrne to Althea Ducati along side Checa. Strong team, I hope the bikes are up to snuff.

Have not heard anything. And I'm not sure how much more his body can take. Seems like he gets injured every time he hits the deck.

Team Yoshimura will leave the Japan championship and will run a limited WSBK schedule along with the Suzuka 300 and the Suzuka 8 Hours. Kagayama is the named rider. They will run events that do not clash with his BSB schedule. Mr. Yoshimura said he is displeased with the Japan series moving towards AMA rules and poor officiating. Source: Roadracingworld.
I wonder if this will turn into a full time team in the future? They prepare some amazing looking racebikes. I welcome them to the series.

The Kag continues! Nice-looking bike, indeed.
