Moto GP, Round 7 - Catalunya
Three race weekends on the trot! While this should be heaven for the race fan in all of us, unfortunately the racing (and the grid) has been less than stellar. Jorge Lorenzo is in a class of his own at the moment. He most certainly will challenge for the win.
Since this is Spain and a track the Honda might like, I think Dani Pedrosa has a chance as well. And the only interesting championship battle at the moment is between Puig’s clone and Andrea Dovisioso. Speaking of Honda riders, what can Randy de Puniet do? I’m probably not his biggest fan, but it’s been nice to see him as top Honda qualifier the last couple of races.
That brings us to the Ducati team. About the only interesting thing going on here is whether or not Rossi will be racing a Duc next year, and if Stoner is on his way out. I’m sure Casey and Nicky will put in solid rides, if nothing else.
We get a small grid boost with the second Fiat Yamaha bike, which will be under ridden by Yoshikawa-san. Ben Spies should be able to get another top 5, but maybe more?
Marco Mlandri will be back, which pushes us back up to a whopping 17 bikes.
I would discuss Moto 2, but I have misplaced my magic eight ball. This class continues to be a mystery to understand.
I will make one prediction though. The 125 race will be won by Marquez, Terol or Espargaro.
