Where to stay in Indianapolis
Hiya, Anyone have some ideas of hotels to stay in in Indianapolis during Indianapolis500 weekend and when should I book? I plan on going to the 2011 Indy 500 and want to be as close to Indianapolis Speedway as I can at a reasonable price.
Any help would be great guys.

If you want to be near the track on Memorial Day weekend for a reasonable price I would try the camping section at Bass Pro Shop . Seriously, have a look on expedia as I don't know what is a reasonable price for you. I am going next year as well but I'm staying in Terre Haute.

When I went to sess the 2008 Indianapolis 500, I stayed at Days Inn Hotel Airport, close to the Indianapolis Airport...it's a good hotel, with 24 Hour Shuttle to the airport (where you can take the bus to the downtown)...in my opinion, it's the best choice, especially beacuse the connection with the Speedway on the race day is better and less crowded than from/to downtown...

Most of the hotels closest to the Speedway are at the airport.
Be prepared to have to buy a four-day room package...and depending upon the hotel, it might not be cheap.

Make a weekend of it if you are travelling from Brisbane. Go to Carburetion Day, see the parade , get right into it.
You will want to spend 3 hours at least just in the Hall of Fame.

I just booked US $335 for 4 nights. Sat and sun were the most expensive. With breakfast included.

That's not too bad. I'd also have to include a return flight to Chicago from London and a return connecting flight from Chicago to Indianapolis.
