BTCC Sillystone...
...my tickets have arrived, and being a Sillystone 'virgin' I'm a little confused about where the camping is/might be.
The paperwork said 'outside Copse' - am i correct in assuming that this is the same site as F1 camping, or is there another place?
The google map shows the F1 campsite, but not anywhere else that might be used.
Ta muchly,
David

Sounds like the usual marshals' campsite. When entering the circuit, turn immediately left and follow the road round. As you approach the Copse grandstands on your right you will see a gate into a field on the left which is the campsite. Slow down on entry if towing since there's a huuuuge bump.

As Woolley says. If it helps, it's the field that's used over the F1 weekend as the "Copse E-Zone".

For previous visitors it was easy to say head for the pedestrian bridge over the start / finish straight, but most of that has been removed in the makeover!
If you're using google maps etc, then the old bridge should still be visible. Alternatively, look for the exit / entrance of the Copse tunnel towards the end of the straight - then peer through the hedge at the tents / caravans already in position.
May be coming up more often? ..... excellent!!

It's not actually marked on Bodysnatcher's map, but it's the field I've zoomed in on here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?cli...,0.002524&z=19
Basically, if you were to drive from the inside of the circuit, via the copse tunnel, but go straight on through the hedge as you came out on the outside, you would be in the field. I wouldn't recommend that though, because the hook-ups are that end, so you'd probably drive right into someone's caravan....oh yeah, and probably dent your car too
EDIT - Alisdair, if you're reading this; if you give me edit permissions, I'll add it on for you if you like
EDIT2 - Beaten by Mr DJ it would seem, but I'll leave this here as my link may be slightly useful.

unusual for me to read a Silverstone thread outside of the GP, it was having Dave m1fcf as the starter that drew me to it. Now I discover he's deserting Brands
Guinness or anybody wanting editing rights to any of my maps just pm me with your email address and I'll let you loose.
I do reserve the right to tidy the maps up if they get too much out of hand. Just looking back at the Silverstone one now & thinking about what is relevant/irrelevant.
Edit - actually thinking about it Silverstone map has open access, originally set up so users could add their 10/10 name at their post. (tho you need a google account)
if anybody wants to to add useful info for BTCC/WSR/Britcar 24 hr feel free.

Reason: free access?

So it is. Marshals camping and facilities added, as is sign-on/parking.

So does that mean hook ups are available? Are they first come first served? and what time do you need to get there on Friday to grab one? Makes caravaning a whole lot better with electricity!!!

Usually yes, however, the junction box wasn't there for Formula Student, the week after the GP. I'd imagine it's been replaced by now (hope so, I'm there for F3 this weekend). IIRC, it has 12 standard size 16A connectors on it, splitters may be needed for BTCC.
I really wouldn't care to guess how it's going to work out with numbers and timing though :\ I would think of more concern is getting close enough to the box or having enough cable to reach, as there's only the one point for the hookup

I very much doubt it-with all the new development work, there's hardly any space left infield now!
