Hazard & Safety Car Boards
This has been my issue for a while:
Why aren't all circuits standardised when it comes to Hazard and Safety Car Boards?
Could the MSA mandate that all circuits have to have the H & SC boards capable of being "stuck on a pole"?
As it stands, on some circuits, you might have somewhere to put the Hazard board (but not always) but the SC board has to be held whilst also trying to wave the yellow flag (and I won't go into that beef here).
Donington, despite all its other faults, got this right for the 1993 GP - so why, 17 years on, is it still the only one? Silverstone, in particular, lags behind so much....
I, personally, don't like waving yellow flags unless I need to. Having to hold a slippery SC board as well is, I reckon, beyond the call of duty.
Please - do something about it!

Shelagh,
While I agree with your point about SC and Hazard boards, I don't agree that Silverstone are lagging behind. In fact, they are one of the very few circuit that have fixed Hazard boards that you just swing out when you need them. All you need is a small bungee and you can attach the SC board aswell. Some circuits give you a Hazzard board, but nowhere to put them, where the drivers can see it.

They're pretty good at Rockingham. The hazard boards have hooks on the back so you can attach them to the mesh grill around the flag points & the SC boards are on wooden poles that can usually be wedged in the mesh or tyres.

They are excellent at Combe where they (both safety & hazard board) clip onto the inside of the 'Cage' allowing you both hands (if reqd) to flag, all very simple and works well.

SC being completely unnecessary if we'd just adopt American yellows.
Sorry, on my hobby horse again.

We had all that before with the yellow and black quartered flag and it didn't work due to driver incompetence.

Most of the time holding out a SC board is not too much of a problem as long as there is someone there to help, but I have to agree that holding it and waving the yellow single handed is a bit of a problem.
As to the Hazard Board; what's the point? They are nigh on invisible to the drivers, even if there is somewhere to fix them generally facing the drivers. I guess they are the motorsport equivalent of just about all food packaging being labelled "may contain nuts"!

Nope, not that one. American signal for safety car is two yellow flags end to end to make one very wide stationary yellow. Doesn't need extra equipment, be it boards, flags or arms. Simple.

I am surprised there is not an MSA regulation size for a Safety Car Board. They vary in size from circuit to circuit.
Cadwell Park has some very manageable ones but I would have thought a bit on the small side for the drivers to see.

At Mallory they're a bit basic, but that's the way we like it
