Roy McCarthy

I was saddened the other day to learn of the passing of Roy McCarthy stalwart of the MGCC BCV8s and Thoroughbred Sports Car Championships.

Although I didn't know him any better than to say hello to him in the paddock and occasionally ask his advice on race lines for whatever circuit we were at, he always came over as a genuinely friendly, nice, and enthusiastic man.
All I can add is condolences to Pam, Russell, Spencer, the rest of the McCarthy family and friends.

RIP Roy.

This is terrible news. I knew that he was "ill" some time back but thought he was going to be OK.
I have raced with him for years in various series and found him to be a "good old boy" a good hard racer but fair.
I still can't believe it. RIP Roy my thoughts go out to his family

Very sad news. I've known Roy from my days with the MGCC. Recently I've had minimal contact with the club, so this is quite a sad surprise.

RIP Roy and condolences to Roy's family and friends.

He was racing at Donington Revived only just over a month ago - I meant to go and say hello but never got around to it. Opportunities missed. My condolences to his family.

Roy was a top man.

Kind, thoughtful and helpful off of the track, and a hard but fair competitor on the track.

Something I think we all may aspire to be. More than 350 race wins speaks for itself.

Our deepest sympathy lies with Russ, Spencer and of course Pam.

Roy won his race at the Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone back in August, the joy on his face said it all. A really sad time and my sympathies go out to Pam and all the family.

RIP Roy

May I endorse the sentiments here about Roy. A fair guy on the track, and a nice one off it. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to Pam, Russell and Spencer.

A very sad day, Roy was such a great guy he had time for everyone and nothing was too much trouble for him in helping others.
Sincere condolances to Pam, Spencer, Russ and all the McCarthy family.

You will be sadly missed Roy, RIP my friend.

Great bloke and blooming good driver. I had the pleasure to watch him many times against my late Dad and it was lovely to catch up with a couple of months ago at Mallory Park.
I wish his family well.

He was with us for Masters at Donington on 3/4/5th Sept as an invited driver because he had competed there in 1977 when it first re opened. Great shame, my thoughts are with his family.

This is such sad news.

I met Roy a few times when I was a more active member of the MG Car Club.

R.I.P Roy.
