Guinness2702 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Speedway

Hi all,

A new speedway cicuit is opening up, just up the road from me, for next season, and I was thinking about going to have a looksee.

Has anybody ever been involved in marshalling speedway? Can you tell me if they need marshals, or people along similar lines? Apart from the obvious of contacting the club directly, are there any clubs/organisations that I might get in touch with, to find out more?

Thanks!

Elaine and I are regular speccies @ Coventry and will certainly be going to the new Leicester track next year. they do have marshals, a couple I recognise at Brandon are usually bike marshals @ weekends. I suggest you contact the club direct.

Don't know about other tracks, but at Derwent Park the marshals have the straight forward description of "flagman/raker". IE - if the referee puts the red lights on, you put the flag out; and inbetween races you rake the boards.

There isn't much incident work - if there's a faller who doesn't sort themselves out the reds will come on and the medical teams will beat you there. At least I normally do

Still, being on the inside of the track is the less dusty place to watch the action, if slightly dizzy...
