The way I see it, this car is mostly intended as a rival of the Acquila...

Is there any rule of minimum number of participants? I mean, it's rather expensive to travel to Smolensk, and we have no national series of GT level to fill the grid.

Nope, and with the new Blancpain Endurance Series around grids in GT3 might not be all that great this year... mid-20s for the good rounds, I supposse, probably somewhat less for Smolensk.

The reason why I'm so worried - I've talked to some people from a russian team that could enter at last two Ferraris, and they said, all is very tricky now. They'd better concentrate at Spa 24h. If even our team thinks so, what others should say. I really want to watch those races alive, the very first case when European GT champ comes here. And if starting grid is less than in RTCC it would be pity. Well, at least there will be something racing, so it's already not that bad.

Endurance Info reported on their facebook page that this series would have around 30 entries. No list yet though.
But from my counting of the news I found, it's at 19.

ALPINA will not participate with a factory team in the championship this year:
http://gt3europe.com/newsitem.php?key=630
http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/fi...1_EN_press.pdf
Cars available for customer teams.
And it's transversal to all championships. The GT3 site filters the press release but the official one says:
Quote:
Interested teams which like to run a new or used BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 Evo 2011 in the ADAC GT Masters, the FIA GT3 European Championship or the Endurance Races VLN at the Nürburgring, are asked to contact ALPINA, Mr. Kiran Hörth
(k.hoerth@alpina.de).

Bit of a shame really, but I hope there's some people out there interested in running the car somewhere.

Engstler Motorsport will campaign at least one Alpina in the ADAC GT Masters. Alpina has also entered two cars for 24 hours Spa.

I thought Alpina stopped their own team already over a year ago and last year only some client teams were running those cars in 2010, so there's nothing new to me in that news bit.

Last year s-Berg Racing entered two Alpina's in GT Masters. They entered one Alpina in a few European rounds. Besides s-Berg there were no teams racing with Alpina.

Well hopefully someone enters one of those big Alpinas in GT3 or Blancpain, those cars had a character of their own.
