Why bother - history says they will be changed before the first meeting anyway.

Going to the training day tommorow. Totally new to this but as a long time follower of motorsport it's always something I've wanted to do.
I'm looking forward to it immensely!

if it was anything like today you will love it!
have to say a massive well done to the oulton crew today, the best training day ive been to in 9 years marshalling, very well organised from the second i applied to the last session, learnt a lot and cant wait till the start of the season now...woop
oh and on a personal note, really nice to see lucy there today, hang in there gal, youve got one big massive orange family to help you get through everything your going through, fred might not be there in person this year, but he will certainly be there in spirit looking down on us and smiling. great to hear craig wants to start marshalling, id be honoured to marshal with him anytime.

Welcome to the orange army, binary. You'll find lots of like minded people tomorrow so get stuck in and make yourself known, most of all enjoy. I'll be there so I'll try and look out for you - but it will be busy!

I'm wondering how many will be there. The e-mail confirmation was CC'd (rather than BCC'd) so I could see everyone else who it has been sent out to, but there are only 18 e-mail adresses. I'm presuming the majority signed up by post?
Bit uncertain as to what I should wear, I was told overalls are ideal but failing that, just stuff you'd normally wear outside. I'm guessing jeans and a hoodie will be fine, along with my boots, hat and gloves for the outside bit. Not too worried about keeping warm as it's not too cold and the majority of the day seems to be inside according to the timetable.
Not yet got the proper marshalling gear and don't really want to set myself on fire (the cheap tracksuit I got from the market is definately off the cards).

Those 18 will be some of those on the same sessions as you ( I'm guessing new trainee) If last year anything to go by expect well over 100 to be present on various training sessions depending upon expereince and preference
Clothing wise most wil be in the orange overalls, but dont worry as you say jeans and a top will be fine (althought for the days on the bank wouldnt reccomend jeans as if they get wet they dont keep you warm,) Bring a waterproof coat, again for the trainign days it doesnt matter what colour but for the race days not a colour that clashes with flags, (HI vis yellow is a no no-no)
I'm sure others will also say so but dont be afraid to ask questions of any of us, we dont bite and most are more than happy to assist or loan spare gear for the days
I'm there tomorrow, with a new cadet (Sarah) and Matthew

90 plus new marshals and 99 trainee marshals plus a fair few of us more experienced lot so I would say there is going to be somewhere near 250-300 of us tomorrow. The weather is looking like its going to behave and stay dry but it will feel very very cold, even on the fire ground (cascades gravel trap) its gonna be cold despite the fires as you lot will be putting them out! Still the controlled rolling of a car usually keeps you warm too. Just give a thought to the instructors who are out there a lot longer due to the volume of people they have to pass through!
Welcome to the mad world of motorsport marshaling! You're gonna love it!
