Quiet day at|cascades which makes a change - especially seeing 20+ Jag XJS's coming towards us like a herd of wildebeest! Some curious lines of the F5000 boys though, I've never seen someone go wd on Fosters loop to rejoin & go off towards Island - he must like going through Shell! Was not sure what flag to wave so didn't wave anything, too busy laughing. Pity was though that they were severly muffled, I sincerely hope that this will NOT be that case at Gold Cup otherwise the loudest thing we will hear is the fairground rides!! Surely, we are allowed some noisy days

Fantastic days racing from the CSCC, Thanks to everyone on Knickerbrook for all the advice and help with my first day of flagging.

Mike...we are allowed some "noisy days" but I believe it is only 4 ,all of which were already booked before anyone knew the 5000's were coming. To the best of my knowledge Gold Cup is one of the 4.

Some really good racing and pretty well behaved through Island / Foulstons.
Definitely worth the drive from York!

Yeah, i think he lapped 1 parent a few more times than he did the other.

That would have been car 33. It was going around so slowly that, when it went into Fosters, the three fast ones behind it had to stand on the brakes. 33 then quite deliberately drove off onto the grass in order to let the others through and rejoined on the run up to Hill Top.
I have no idea why such utterly dreadful driving is allowed during a race. It's an accident waiting to happen.

I thought it was a mobile chicane designed to give the all flag points a chance to wave a blue flag.

In defence of Judy Lyons - no 33 - she has always driven in such a fashion. She is normally quite exemplary in keeping out of the way being fully aware of her position. Judy has probably done the same for in excess of 10yrs.
It was unfortunate that two laps worth of lappery came together at the same time and Judy deliberately took to the grass to keep out of the way.
If flaggers watched properly it was rare for her to need a blue flag as she pays great attention to the mirrors and keeps tight to the edge of the circuit. Those who race with her know her ways and can trust her not to do anything unpredictable. I have seen far worse and it could harly be described as "dreadful".
Besides when your husband runs the series..... Its not a GP so the 107% rule does not apply. The Lyons family are also very marshal friendly and are always ready to provide the odd cup of tea!
Just nice to see another example of an F5000 Lola on track.

The noisy days are taken care of by the Gold Cup, BTCC and Superbikes.

Frank finished third on the same lap as son Michael in the second race and had a problem in race one.
Good to see so many F5000s out and, as has been said, sad to see some misfortunes befalling some of the Kiwi contingent. I know Warwick Mortimer in the Surtees was a bit miffed to find the Trojan moving over on him as he attempted to pass while inexperience of the circuit caught out David Abbott as his Lola went 'light' on the exit from Druids in Friday testing. Better luck for them at Brands this weekend.

I'm sure she's a very nice lady, and it is nice to see the car. But I retain my view that a race meeting is for racing and drivers should be doing just that.
I too have seen worse but the drivers concerned were racing, albeit not very well. The lady was not racing, made no attempt to race and at times didn't even keep pace with the course car. She unilaterally decided whether to stay on the circuit or not and I suppose if she'd taken a short cut through Fosters that too would have been OK. I think that's dreadful at a race meeting.

Absolutely agree!
However, she may have been uncompetitive but at least she obeyed the yellow flag when deployed for marshals on track recovering a car..........unlike her husband who chose to steam on through with no apparent regard for the chaps in orange!
He wasn't the only one to do that on Saturday. The first offender had his/her qually times scrubbed and was a BOG for his/her race. This penalty didn't appear to be applied to car 74 in the F5000's for some reason!

Some race series have a minimum lap time that all driver must beat in qualifying to gain entry to the race. I presume that this doent apply for this championship.
If so does anyone know why not?

Thanks for the reassurance Gordon re: noisy days. And, for the record, my comments are not aimed at any driver. All the HSCC boys put on a fantastic show & we as marshals should be very grateful to see older cars being driven in glorious surroundings!
Keep it up & see you at the Classic @ Silverstone, a proper meeting, not a fund raising event for private equity companies!! (only joking - enjoy the GP!)
