911thillclimber should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Peter Cox Triumph Spitfire?

Running on memories of 1970/71, but had a Mk2 Spitfire then and followed the Tripple C book on Tuning Small Triumphs and seem to recall a Cox Spitfire as the star car.

I could be very wrong as i don't remember my birthday at times!

Any info/guidance?

Anyone got a copy of the Tripple C book!?

Graham.

I also had a Triumph in 1971 although mine wasn't a Spitfire but a FWD 1300 saloon that had been my mother's. Never the less, I still bought the Tripple C tuning book and remember the green Peter Cox Spitfire on the cover. I used to see this car racing at Mallory Park and have always presumed that it was the same Peter Cox who founded Cox & Buckles the Triumph and MG specialists at Oldbury.

You could well be right Kelvin.
I think he took a spitfire to LeMans, but maybe not.
The book was really good and it would be nice to find one for nostalgia really.
Mine is burried somewhere, but just might have been thrown so many years ago.
Graham.

Peter Cox ran the Triumph GT6 in the Chevron Oil/Fred W Dixon Mod Sports Championship of 1970, entered of course by Gold Seal Car Company.

He is not shown on the points table by July and the Mallory meeting on the 26th but is entered and appears to have finished 2nd in class, behind the rapid Norrie Cuthbert Elan.

I've tried long and hard to find a copy of the Tripple C book to no avail, but the cox spitfire was a trick car.
Any details info etc??

I did a lot to the chassis of my MK 1 Spitfire and it worked having served my 'apprenticeship' on my Herald 12/50...What a great first car that was.
