Well, if the R8 can be brought in, and if the Z4 can be brought in the GTR should be. Although, like the Mercedes SLS the Nissan would provide some unique challenges in homologation. (Not the same challenges, obviously.)

I didn't realize the Mazda's would be back next season. It will sure be weird to see a Mazda racing a Ferrari 458 or Audi R8.....
any Camero's back next year?

Actually it was a poke at far-reaching speculation apparently being taken as fact on the forums. So Grand-Am has been shopping around looking for common ground with other GT-ish series, but some little hints of that somehow became "next year Grand-Am is dumping their existing classes and adopting DTM and GT3!".

^They may as well do that, I'd be for it at least. Make the current chassis suppliers adopt DTM Coupe regs and use GM badged engines and bodywork. Instead of Corvette, brand it CTS-V like world challenge. Then Ford could do the same with a 'Stang or something. I donno, DP's seem odd, maybe DP3 will alleviate that? Heres to GA GT3 DTM DP! What a tongue twister.

I don't see why they wouldn't return. Chevrolet already has good representation in DP for the Corvette-bodied DPG3 entrants. They want to keep flying the flag in GT and that falls on the shoulders of the Camaro.

Well, someone on the ground in Mid Ohio posted on another forum that a Nissan presence in Rolex GT in 2012 is possible, probably tubeframers for 2012 - with the real GT-R coming in in 2013....

I would not be surprised if we saw a lot more GT3 based cars in prep 1 GA. centrelock wheels are permitted next year so it is just the roll cage that is a stumbling point

And aerodynamics, and horsepower, and tire size and potentially forced induction. (Grand-Am will adjust to the forced induction thing, though.)

John Dagys at Speed had an article with lots of details on the Grand Am Audi.
Some interesting points from the article:
Nobody has bought one yet,
They are only making 4 (unless there is a larger than expected demand),
It costs $438,000 (which I assume is much more than a tuber Mazda, and for reference you can buy a DPG3 Riley for $405,000 with no engine),
You cant convert a GT3 to GA spec, but you can go the other way.

I doubt it, no chance ALMS would announce something as exciting as the R8 LMS coming to the series at the Petit Le Mans during State of the Series, instead Im sure we will hear things like what we heard about last year, Riley LMP2, West Racing and Live SPEEDTV coverage, all of which Atherton praised at SotS in 2010.
Waiting for Signature Motorsports, Lotus Sport USA and the ALMS Roku channel to be announced at State of the Series this year. Or perhaps some more useless Patron sponsor demos.

Well, if Patron supplies enough free samples those present will have an easier time going nodding to what he's saying

Hehehe, but I would think it would take the entire press room drinking medical rubbing alchohol to nod to what Atherton will be rambling on about this year. Perhaps Scott's seperated at birth twin Tony Cochrane will be there as well.
