The 360 O Breakfast Sprint - Saturday May 5th 2012

Now, last year, we had THE WEDDING BREAKFAST SPRINT race at the 360, so 2012 is THE OLYMPIC YEAR....and as such,..we went to those nice people at little chef and said "Hey...we want to name one of our support races after your famous breakfast and we know you can use the term Olympic for it...because its been around since BEFORE 2012 was announced".... and they said that they are happy for us to do so (bless them)

Therefore, we shall have an Olympic Breakfast Sprint race. it will not really be a sprint though, we want to promote the idea of Endurance with this event....so we are thinking more likely 45 mins with a 20 min qualifier.

Now this will be an ALL COMERS RACE, bit like the WBS this year but with one VITAL difference.

The car model must be at least 21 years old NO EXCEPTION (Just to confirm Replicas ARE allowed providing they are a replica of a car model OVER 21 years old)

Five classes of car PLUS an invitation class, Classes still to be confirmed depending on entry BUT (And this is indicative only) classes we think as follows
Class A: 3800 and above
Class B: 2401cc to 3799cc
Class C: 1851cc to 2400cc
Class D: 1301cc to 1850cc
Class E: Up to 1300 cc
Class I: Invitation (Not eligible for awards)

There will be best in class and 1st 2nd and 3rd overall

There will be a MANDATORY pit stop of 1 min

Original engine, gearbox, and induction system type to be retained. (if fuel-injected, throttle bodies are allowed)
Fuel-injected cars may run carburettors but NOT vice-versa. No sequential gearboxes, NO SLICKSs. (List 1a/1b only must be fitted.)
Sportscars /GT's what have you ALL CLOSED WHEEL

PM for more details and More to follow

Why have you chosen 1850 cc. My RS 2000 will be well out classed.

A totally legal 2399cc FIA Lotus Cortina perhaps - especially if allowed to run list 1B tyres!!

As a serious point - would cars already running in series with Dunlop CR65 treaded race tyres be allowed to run with those tyres?

'If' you could ever stretch a TC out to that I still think a good RS2000 would kick its ass. Just witness some of the giant slaying acts performed by the likes of Steve Primett and with no sticky out arches! Why I am even contemplating buying one myself which I have seen for a very good price.

They are a treaded tyre......but ....not on those lists ....mmmmmm

What we did last year with this race we will probably do again (its early stages so still planning it) but what we said was if you ran to a recognised set of regs for CSCC/HSCC/MASTERS/750MC etc then you would be accepted for this event/race.

The CR65 is a race tyre as such using a pattern that has been around for donkeys years (certainly more than 21 years) can I ask what car they would be on?

Got half hours break, any way,the Dunlops,I would have thought, should not present a problem, certainly not as sticky as most tyres in 1B or 1A. Huge amount of fun to drive on though!LoL
Oh well, back to the grind, poxy job but someone has to do it!

The CR65's and Dunlop Formula R's both treaded race tyres are damned expensive and niether will hold a candle to a good list 1a will they Ascona Dave?

I am tempted with the Escort RS2000 its a beautifully freshly built little car in Rally spec with bubble arches (unfortunately) but based on a standard two door shell as I would imagine most are and not a genuine RS but the rest of the spec is good with turreted 5 link, 5 speed, large dellortos etc. I saw the thing a while back but he couldnt take me for a run in it as it was blocked in the yard but a mate has told me its still up for grabs.
