The early Marcos's were 1.8s but they later moved to v6 and then the Rover V8. Mikes car was originally registered on the road with a V8 in it. But from what I've heard about the company, they would build what you liked as long as you were paying.
I think it was good to have a Ferrari out, gives the spectators a little more.

Also the Ferrari was not overly quick and a better driver than me would have beaten it in my IROC but I messed it up a bit in the race, as it was I think I out qualified it. I have no probs with the Marcus or the Bee someone has to win and it aint gonna be me, as long as they continue to drive with care and respect to the slower cars being lapped then no problem.

James, Marcos were originally 1800cc Volvo engined, then moved to 1500cc Ford but only 290 made, then 1652cc Ford, then the more numerous V6......etc. (ps. I copied it from a book!)

I watched the 40 minute incar last night and dont think it was that inspiring as I was poodling around trying to make fuel last so probably wont bother to Youtube it. I did have a nasty moment on the oil which is clear to see but not as bad as Tom's buttock clenching moment! Also caught the Marcus getting a bit out of shape as he bravely overtook me on the oil. If any interest I will post it up but is boring in places.

Finished the engine and its back in one peice and running sweet. New valve and bits in the head. Put back as single competition valve spring set up again, till I sort out whether to go double springs and away from solid pushrods. Trouble is the loss of performance from double springs could be an issue with an engine in such a mild state of tune as mine. But don't want another broken valve spring spoiling my fun again. Times like this I wish I had a Chevy with such a lot of strong and cheap race product options.
Start on the body work damage tomorrow.......

Yes that's the joy of the Chevy engine I changed the springs to a lighter set on one of my engines as I think they had been overkill before.

Why would you lose performance ? if it's set up properly the overall spring rate shouldn't differ as the inner spring should only alter the harmonics to curtail valve bounce.

Gordon,
Unfortunately I don't know enough about Rover V8s, its only lightly breathed on in engineering changes for racing, with almost all components still standard, so anything takes the edge off it! But its cheap!!!

Go for it Modes don't be shy! I not 100% sure if I will be there as it clashes with another meeting I want to do.
