Spanish GP Marshals

I was just wondering, if Lewis or Jenson stopped on their victory lap at their home GP like Alonso has just done so, how different would we act to the Spanish Marshals.

I suspect the FIA would not be happy with what took place, but then even having the marshals out on track at the end is so different to what we are allowed.

This is not to criticise others, just wondering what people felt appropriate if it happened!

Knowing the FIA they probley wouldnt give an ass about the spanish marshals. When the F1 get to the uk and we try to do what they'v done Bernie would probley take the BGP away from us.

I've noted the official FIA marshalling technique. Two fast response marshals with cameras to collect evidence for any subsequent investigation immediately followed by a sympathy marshal carrying a cuddly toy in case the driver is crying.

Must have missed that training session myself - is it just for GP marshals?

I seem to remember someone telling me that Spain is mostly a closed shop for marshalling?

Seems many of the positions involved sitting down. If only they could figure out how to do this and at the same time assist a driver in pulling his car behind a barrier.

I did think that the guys who wheeled Vettel's car off the track under yellows as the whole pack went past must have had balls of steel...

Bull + enclosed walls - probably veterens of Pamplona! Seriously, they did a pretty good job of that one. Some of the rest, even trying not to be an armchair marshal, didn't look good on tv to say the least. Did Grosjean end up doing his own marshalling? No sign of anyone in orange by the time the tv gave up on him.

there were definitely delays in communication

the intervention marshal in orange overalls was completely oblivious as the pack went by the car he was pushing completely exposed behind the rear wheel driver left.

the delay was especially long when Grosjean stopped because no one was anywhere near that wall opening... though they seemed to have filled that spot towards the end of the race because I could clearly remember seeing one of the marshals jumping up and down when Alonso won

I'm not sure how you can make either of those statements unless you were there and involved? It's all assumptions based on short bits of TV coverage and few facts.

As usual those of us sitting on our sofas have little idea what was actually happening and what instructions were being given. We certainly don't know what was happening in someone's head and what their awareness of a situation was.

Yes indeed, my statements are pure speculation.
