Jim McGregor
I'm sure many of the 'more mature' BRSCC Brands Hatch marshals will be sad to learn, as I was, of the death of Jim McGregor. Jim was a long time marshal becoming Chief Marshal, a Clerk of the Course and Secretary of the Meeting.
A quiet and gentle man of whom I, for one, will have many happy memories. RIP Jim

I agree, a quiet and truly gentle man who was part of the BRSCC organising team for so many years. He will be sadly missed - another of the good guys gone!

I didn't know Jim very well, when I first started racing he was our championships contact at the BRSCC, Bearing in mind that the next car meeting at Brands Hatch is a BRSCC one (4/5th Aug) those who knew him better would be in a position to comment on whether or not it would be appropriate to have a few moments of remembrance at either the briefing or maybe even sometime during the meeting? What do you think??

I marshalled at a GP at Brands on post 4a forty odd years ago with Jim and remember having a great weekend in his company. I don't think I met up with him again until I made a point of finding him in race control at the ff festival two years ago. I'm glad I did! RIP Jim, a very valued man within the BRSCC.

I hope something can be organised along those lines as I would like to be able to be there to pay my repects. Perhaps Peter Scillitoe or Brian Degurland, who post on here, can update us.

Sadly ironic, that I was only last weekend discussing Jim with someone and commenting that he hadn’t been around for a while (not knowing his personal circumstances), which led onto other notables from the BRSCC that we have lost.
One thing is for sure, the Big Man up there now has a formidable Race Organising Team with Jim joining John Nicol, Don Truman, Tim Stock, Keith Jones, Howard Lapsley. All good Motorsport Men.
RIP Jim

Very sorry to hear of the loss of Jim McGregor.
Being one of those that John Gee politely refers to as 'more mature' ex-Brands Hatch marshals, I remember Jim well, and fondly.
Having started marshaling at Brands in 1991, I was very fortunate to get to know the senior BRSCC team - Jon Nicol, Bernie (C, not E), Jim, Julie Edghill, Brian D, John Gee, David Gilbert, Chris Patterson, Colin Gill, Mike Norman, Glyn Challinor and many others - they tought me a massive amount about running a meeting as well as just the marshaling side.
Having moved up to Cumbria a while ago, and not getting back down to Brands for some time, I last saw Jim at Autosport NEC - typical of him, he remembered me and it was great to have a good chat and catch-up.
His friendship, and his contribution to the sport will be remembered with love and great respect by all who knew him.

I am informed there will be a dedication to Jim (and Doug Jennings) on Sunday at the BRSCC Brands Hatch meeting. Sadly, Jim will now be joined in that Race Control in the sky by Doug Jennings, late MSA Steward and Brands Hatch CoC, who passed away last weekend.

I hope Brian Jones' tribute to Jim and Doug before the recommencement of racing on Sunday afternoon was a fitting memorial to two great friends of the BRSCC and motorsport.

Personally I found it moving but not weepy, A very fitting tribute indeed. A difficult job that was well done.

I agree and glad that I was there to hear it. People like Jim and Doug should not be forgotten.

Unfortunately the PA system is almost non-existent in the pitlane and together with the radio traffic on the headset, I missed most of Brian's tribute, but I am sure it was well received.
