2013 Intersteps cancelled

I read in Autosport that Intersteps has been cancelled for 2013.

I am quite pleased that some clubs have the guts to cancel poorly supported championships. There are too many Series limping along with poor grids that should be taken around the back of race control and shot.

Organising clubs have too many vested interests in keeping these poor series going so they can make money, the idea of the MSA refusing permits to struggling championships seems to have been forgotten about.

If they have lost their dispensation which allowed them to run 15 yr old drivers, then they are up against the F4 / FR BARC / FF200 series and I think they recognised they couldn't compete against all those, so decided to close up shop.

I can't say that I am surprised that the championship has been canned; afterall grids were small when 15 year olds were allowed in. Removing this benefit means that drivers were going to be more difficult to come by.
