Bathurst Motor Festival

A great event with even better weather. What a difference a decent drop of rain will do-the brown earth at the 12 hour was replaced by verdant green everywhere and together with cool mornings and sensational clear blue skies the mount was definitely at its best.

Racing was excellent and the F3s had a ball obliterating SVG's outright lap record time and time again. The field may have small however the quality of the racing more than made up for it.
All other events featured huge fields with plenty of great racing action.

Admission was a bank note donation to the chosen charity (Legacy) and included pit access and free parking !
The crowd is getting better each year and the family atmosphere was enjoyable.

Do yourself a favour and put it into the calendar for next year as it was well worth the trip and best of all no bogans !!

From what i saw the crowd entirely consisted of bogans.
good to see the record broken, Think that might last for a long time

Worth noting that Miss Chelsea Angelo not only eclipsed Mr van Gisbergen's lap record herself, but in doing so, cements herself as the fastest female to circulate the track to date.

The record will probably last until Feb 2015. When the GT cars get back there on a cured track they will improve over this years times.

I'm not even sure the current crop of outright class F3 cars are all that new either.

So if someone decides to update to something a bit newer, we could be look at times very close to the the sub-2min bracket.

Nasty accident in Prodsports where the brakes failed in an RX7 driven by Ric Shaw going into the Chase. The former Geoff Morgan Porsche owned by Chris Stannard was collected. Incar here http://youtu.be/8NqZDtw_lek

If you're commenting on the linked clip I'd have said brain failure rather than brake failure as the car clipped the inside kerb and that threw it off the track and into one of these

Sorry PVDA, don't agree - if you keep watching the car featured in the original income was hit from behind and taken out (there is footage from a following car).

Agree with you on brain fade though - amazing how the RX7 supposedly with brake failure could be locking tyres heading into the chase and had it's tyres locked as it slid across the track after hitting the Porsche.

The incar is from the Porsche. It was hit from behind by the Silvestro Rx7 whose brakes had failed. Nothing to do with any kerbs or brain failure. If you look closely the Rx7 was smoking going down Conrod which may (or may not of) been the cause.

That RX7 hitting the Porsche, from the car following, kinda looks like the RX7 thought "yeah I'll stick it down the inside and smoke these guys, oh crap there's not enough room, whoops sorry mate"

I am going with that's standard for that driver.
