That one's great, but I prefer pretty much any in-car action from the supporting Clios - wait 5 minutes, and (s)he's bound to spin!

Yes, 95 is awesome. I love the one where he's going through Woodcote, and he goes down 3 gears for Copse, that's immaculate...
Brands 95 when Radisich's tires are completley gone, and he's trying to keep it going, there's nearly an entire lap, and it's pretty good. I love that shift sound of the Mondeo when it went up into 6th, it seemed to sound completley different from all the other cars' shifting.

Watching Tarquini at work was always a pleasure to watch from on-board as he is probably the most animated driver out there.

Yes, I agree, watching him last year he always shifted quickly, and earlier than everyone else. He had some big over-revs in the Honda, and it sounds cool.

I know it's not BTCC and most of you won't have seen it but Rick P in the Renault Turbo got my vote. Ok so he rolls it at one point which is pretty spectacular but the scene that sticks in my mind is this car spinning from right to left, out of shot and then, wow, straight infront of Rick's car narrowly missing him and off the track again to the right. Awesome bit of timing that. 10/10

Here's a list of great in-car shots from all the btcc vids, from 1991-2000. I've yet to get 2001, as I'm waiting for this Tuesday...

91-
1st race sees several shots from Steve Soper's car, which are pretty exciting. John Cleland also has a spectacular shot when he goes through Copse on the second lap, chasing Soper. There's also some shots from Ray Bellm's car that I like. The next race at Snetterton has the infamous Netton Lindgren "Hell hath no fury like a woman rammed" from inside Jonathan Palmer's car. The Gp support round has some awesome shots from Rouse's car. Then, at Donington, there's some great shots from Rouse, Cleland, and Tim Harvey. Oulton Park has some famous clips of Steve Soper's fighting spirit, he never gives up there. Thruxton, before the last round at Silverstone, has some classic down-shifting sounds from the BMWs, just listen to it. The final round at Silverstone has some good ones, but they're mostly BMW shots, but there's a cool shot with Cleland going through Abbey corner, with the camera on the bootlid.

92- Oulton Park has some shots from the Toyotas that are good. Then, there's the replay of Cleland's tankslapper from the first lap, and that's great to listen to. It also has one with Cleland when he's talking to Murray Walker with the microphone in the car. Soper, too, has some shots that sound cool. The Brands Hatch Gp circuit round has some immaculate shots from the Toyotas, as well as some good ones from Soper's car. Donington, (the doubleheader round) is excellent, as it combines the in-car action with the corny music that is played in the backround. I like the music because it reminds me of my long-lost 1994 Formula 1 review video. Then, there isn't much that's exciting until Brands Hatch (the doubleheader round). A lot of BMW and Toyota shots. The penultimate round at Donington is great. A lot of good clips, some from Robb Gravett's Peugeot, as well as the BMWs. The final round of course, has the only sounds of cars that I've ever heard that make the hairs on my neck stand up!

93- There's a lot from that year, and all I can say it it's one of the best in variety and choice of in-car shots. All of the cars sounded great from that year. No other comments needed.

94- The first race has some good variety of shots. Snetterton, the next best in-car race, has a really good variety of shots. They're also really exciting. The GP support round also has a great battle beween Jo Winkelhock and Gabriele Tarquini, covered from inside the 2 cars. Knockhill, too, has some good ones. The last 2 venues of the season are pretty good, but to me, the sounds of the cars from those 2 venues sound sad and mournful (maybe because Paul Radisich's engine blew up in the Silverstone races!). The Donington Park races just sound sad to me. I don't know why.

95- Donington Park, the first 2 races, has some great shots from Radisich's car, and Johnny Cecotto's car. The next 2 races, at Brands in the rain, also see some good ones from Radisich's car, as well as Rickard Rydell's car. Silverstone has some great shots with the Vauxhalls as well as a mechanical failure in-car with Alain Menu, and some great shots from the Fords, with Paul Radisich starring. The Brands Hatch rounds 18+19 round have some awesome shots from Radisich's car. I talked vaugely about them earlier in the thread. The penultimate round at Oulton Park sees a really good shot from Alain Menu's car on the last lap, listening to that car makes all your dislikes about the guy fly out the window. Then, the final round, has some awesome shots from John Cleland's car. Most of them show him going through the 90 degree version of Copse corner, hitting the kerbs... Immaculate.

96- Of course there's the wonderful Audi's. Brands Hatch, rounds 3+4, have some great shots. So does the race at Silverstone, rounds 7+8. The Snetterton race is also unforgettable in terms of in-car action. Knockhill, too, sees some superlative shots (Okay, I'm using Murray Walker language now, but I'm running out of adjectives!). Thruxton, (I think it's the 3rd venue from the final race) has some awesome shots, from a lot of different cars.

97- The first venue, at Donington, has a great shot from Frank Biela's Audi, as well as a cool shot of Gabriele Tarquini. Rickard Rydell also stars at that race. Silverstone, the next round, has some good shots of the Peugeots, Renaults, and Vauxhalls. Rounds 9+10 at Oulton Park are immaculate, as they combine Renaults, Volvos, Vauxhalls, Fords, and Nissan shots. Croft has some awesome shots of James Thompson's Honda, as well as the Volvo of Rickard Rydell. Snetterton has some good ones too. Frank Biela, Jason Plato, Alain Menu, Robb Gravett, David Leslie, and Tim Harvey all star in that race in terms of in-car footage. There's really a lot of great shots from 97. Thruxton has an incredible shot of Jason Plato coming out of Church corner and hitting the rev-limiter half way down the straight! Silverstone, the final round, has some Vauxhall shots, and a famous Alain Menu manouver when he passes Jason Plato, and you watch it all from Anthony Reid's Nissan. The replays from Plato's car are great.

98- This year, also, has some great shots, but there's a couple that stand out. The first round at Thruxton is great. Donington at rounds 5+6 have a shot down the craner curves with Paul Radisich's Peugeot. Knockhill has some great Nissan shots, both from Anthony Reid and Matt Neal. The final round is immaculate.

99- The Nissans really stood out to me that year. At the first round, both Rickard Rydell and James Thompson have nearly an entire lap aboard their cars as Matt Neal chases them. Brands Hatch (I think its rounds 7+8) has some cool shots from Laurent Aiello's Nissan. Donington Park (the GP circuit round) has some great shots from the Nissans too. Snetterton is good too. Knockhill sees an entire lap from Laurant Aiello's Nissan before he hits Jason Plato off at Duffus.

2000- The second venue at Donington has some great shots from the Fords, as well as Gabriele Tarquini's Honda. The Class B shots from Thruxton, Knockhill, Croft, Brands Hatch, and Silverstone are all awesome. I hope I'm treated to something like that on this year's review video. Knockhill has some good Honda shots. Oulton Park was great race that year, and there's a bunch of shots from the Vauxhalls and the Hondas. Croft, too, has some good shots from Jason Plato's Vauxhall. The Brands Hatch round where Matt Neal wins the race is great too. The final round, at Silverstone, is great. Almost all the cars have a camera in them (the Class A cars).

Finally, I'm done... I'm sure I've left some out, so remind me of some if you remember them

The vast majority of races within that period I've watched on TV, but as for season review vids, I've only got '95 and '98 and have watched each once. Can't say my life has ever revolved around watching season review vids. I'll stick to memorable moments from trackside

I'm afaid to say that I have no old vids

After all it is a wee bit sad looking at what was, what was. If all I had was the vids from old Btcc racing to look at I would look for a new life. Btcc is only great when it is live after all.

Have you tried sex ?????

Also best tried live. If not try the Mile High Club, Solo Aviator Division now seeking members

I don't know how many times I've said this. I live in the U.S. The review videos are my only way to see the BTCC. I've never actually been to a BTCC race. I have to rely on stuff like that, as well as this forum for information. Chances are, there's not a single touring car fan other than me in the 30-mile radius of where I live. I come onto this forum to talk about stuff that I can't with my friends- they really don't know what touring cars are. You also have to remember that I'm 13, and I'm somewhat entitled to not really have much of a life, besides school. I don't drive (I'm not old enough) and I can't work (I'm not old enough). Please have a little understanding before you say things like "I would look for a new life" or "my life has not revolved around watching the review videos" . Chances are, most of you happen to have a long workday and don't want to waste your time watching your review vids when you can just go see the races for yourselves. Try to have some understanding next time. I realize that my post saying all the great in-car stuff was a little out of hand, but you have to admit, I haven't seen a live race before. I've had to rely on those tapes for over a year to satisfy my racing craving. No hard feelings, but try to have some understanding next time.

The art is in what you do with the clips. If they are an enjoyable aide memoire to a much-loved season, that's terrific. If they are the only contact you have with a race series that doesn't visit your neck of the woods, then that's great too.

It's true that nothing beats being at trackside. But it's not true that BTCC or Supertourers are the end-all and be-all of motor racing. If you're prepared to check out whatever formula is on offer in your State, then at least it will give you the perforated eardrums and the light aroma of racing fuel that the old-hands carry around like a badge.

Then, as and when your horizons widen, you can indeed seek out the Touring Cars that first captivated you on the television screen. But don't dismiss out of hand the live motor sport that could be accessible to you in your area.

And as for obsession with video - as the person who this week stuck down the sticky catalogue label on his 541st 4-hr tape of motor racing, who am I to argue against anyone's video enthusiasm.

Exactly, Tim. Nothing beats being at the track. Thanks for the support!
The last race I went to see was a demolition derby over the summer, and let me tell you this, it beats the heck out of BTCC! There's something like 40 junkyard cars driving around a 1/4 mile track, and it's nonstop action. I'll also have to look into the sprint car racing around here.

Ok a bit of an apology, I actually did not know that you where in the US, so sorry to hurt you personally. My post was aimed generally more than a personal attack. It's just that the BTCC area has become a dross area has hit a few of us. The area need's to be construtive and not hyperthetical. Content rather than quantity.

Seeing BTCC in the States can be improved on, come on there is more racing in the US than Europe. Go to a loacal meet and tell us about it !
