What a pathetic forum
When I first joined this forum it was great - the one place on the net where you could intelligently discuss Formula 1.
Since then it has deteriorated into a pathetic group of kindegartners who constantly argue about who is the "best." Logical threads, intelligent discussions and thought provoking posts are nowhere to be found. Now, ever thread deteriorates into "my driver is better than your driver, nah-nah-na-boo-boo."
It's a joke. Yes, I'll continue to come here just because there is no where else to go. But it's clear that the best discussions on 10/10ths now happen outside the Formula 1 area.
It's sad really, but I think it well mirrors the current pathetic situation Bernie has created in Formula 1.

Give credit where credit is due, our moderators had done a great job in keeping the most vulgar or poor-tasted posts (and posters) out....
I must admit that 10/10ths is really quite different from its past (just like F1 now is different to 20 years ago)...but i think its out of the moderators control now because "legally" they can't ban some of the threads here...just like FIA cannot ban teamorders. I still come here rather faithfully, whenever possible, hoping for a change... but to expect a change, why don't we all make the change happen?
It would benefit the forum a lot if we try not to be over obsessed with a particular driver/team (being supportive of a driver/team is different) and not make up stories/accusations (or "opinions" as they claim) on teams they do not like.
That's what i suggest... But still, there are a relative few who are really interesting to argue with... worse comes to worse, i'd perhaps settle for private discussions

Nature of the beast... Passionate F1 fans are going to defend their drivers, attack other drivers, and argue about who is best. In my early days here, I was known to have have been talking about a certain Columbian driver in harsh tones.. until.. I realized he is actually for real.. (yes, I had to eat some humble pie, but it tasted good!). Nowadays, I try to limit the driver bashing to Rubens, who is wasting his talents signing lap-dog contracts...
What really irks me is when there are 10 simultaneous threads complaining about TG.. errr. the same driver. The moderators are only human, and this has happened more than once!

I don't really believe in attacking another driver direct, but i do defend drivers i support. As you've said...its nature of the beast...while i try to avoid launching an attack...i can't help launching a "counter-attack"...in which a driver on the recieving end can only blame his fan for that!

Zealot,
What can turn this forum better are the members. If you contribute with high level discussions, it will be better sooner or later. The ones who just want flame baits and bashing drivers will be bored and then disappear. We moderators can't change the situation by routing threads subjects. We can only keep the place from offending and personal attacks posts.
Those of you, who feel the need to level up the subjects, ignore those bashers and start threads that you feel that can contribute to our forum.
I count on you all.

I try not to driver or team bash. I might stick my oar in if I strongly disagree with what a team/driver has said or done, but other than that I try and remain restrained.
There's more to F1 than what happens on the track and in the press. I love chucking about ideas and theories about comings, goings and actions of team personell and what might happen (like the BAR/Jordan/Honda saga).
Lets' just chill, have a beer, and have some debate instead of attack/counter attack.

I am new to F1. New to ten-tenths too. I visited here about two years ago but could not make a point because everyone here seemed to know way more than I could ever hope to know about F1. I still dont know much about the sport especially its history. The posts that put driver against driver and the flame wars are easy and actually can be good. It allows the newbies to enter a forum where they can be educated to the ways of F1. Also those who do the "my driver is better than yours" posts will eventually realize how trivial and pointless these arguements are and they will eventually cease.
I like the technical aspect of the sport. I love hearing about chassis development and ofcourse hp. Personally, I dont even care who drives the cars. I like the cars, not the people. The fact of the matter is there is room here for everyone. I try to ignore posts that talk about what I consider dead issues. Tell you what though there is probably not one post that deals with Honda that I have not been involved in.

great post zealot - i know cant be bothered with the F1 forum anymore, its opinionated, harsh and scandalous all the time.
i have however found solice and entertainment in the Gravel Trap - a much better class of people who like a laugh and take a joke unlike many F1 forum poster's.i reckon they should take a leaf out of this lesson or perhaps get a life.

My ten cents worth of opinion:
Its not correct to criticize the forum or the threads. If someone doesnt like a thread, just dont read it. As simple as that. There are plenty of good threads too. Not all threads are flame baits!
Peace.

Just take a look at the f1 forum.. we have threads like:
Photos of the New Hockenheim
Provisional 2003 Calendar
Webber's Jaguar test
Brawn achieves a deft 'U' turn
Now That Rubens Has Been "Paid Back!"
Lauda and friends have ran out of excuses
Minardi Get the TV Money - Finally
San Marino/Paul Ricard 82
Will Goodyear Return?
And so on...
Obviously there are some like:
Juan blames Ralf for poor race!
Read and respond in the good ones. There is no need to get paranoid about this issue.

Your not the first one to say, "if you don't like what someone has written, don't read it". But damn, the only way I can tell if I like something is to read it! If you have another way, pulleeeze tell me.

Actually this post is becoming what it is meant discredit. We are here disussing something that has nothing to do with F1 and criticizing people for their views. I like this forum. The only thing I would like is more real facts, but so would the media. We are no better than the people who start flame wars and "mine is better than yours" posts. Actually, I think my post is better than anyone elses here.

I will tell you a way: Enter the forum "Formula one" and you will see a list of thread headlines alongwith the number of replies, views and date of last post. Take a careful look at the Thread 'headlines' and find which one interests you. There are plenty which are good topics. Share your sophisticated opinion with all of us and we will be happy to read it.
