I have uploaded a video on to you tube that my Dad took in 1977, its a bit of a mixture of Brands and Lyden hill, It includes Rob Mason, Brands, nearly got him!! in the wet. Nick Whiting,Brands, Eddy Punt, Brands and Lyden, and many others that i dont know but someone may recognise themselves. Rod Birley in a white Capri at Lyden i think.
If anyone has any information as to what happend to my car please let me know. i sold it in 1978.

Thanks very much Geoff, I enjoyed that. That looked very quick into Clearways at Brands.

70s Super Saloon Pics

A few of my own efforts from years gone by. Some of you may remember them from TNF, but I don't think they have seen the light of day for a number of years.
All from Oulton, the 'Baby Bertha' shots are from 1975, Colin Hawker's Capri is from 1974, as is the Doug Niven/Nick Whiting photo, while Gerry with 'old Nail' is from early '75.

Clive Brown has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

The black Imp carrying #72 is David Enderby's first Maguire car, PIG 1, later destroyed at Thruxton. Crap flexible chassis.

The blue Imp #79 with the white roof is probably the Chris Roberts/Adrian Gamble Rawlson-bodied car, either Rawlson-chassised, or later on a spaceframe chassis that they made themselves. Usually ran as an 850, hence the Shell stars on the roof. I wouldn't have put any money on its true capacity, though. Chris Roberts was a loveable rogue who we called the biggest liar in Birmingham, and sadly perished in the alcohol-fuelled helicopter crash that also claimed the life of David Prophet.

The blue Imp #87 with George Bevan on the rear quarter panel looks like it might be a Maguire, but I'm not sure. That's not pukka Bevan blue, and the signwriting doesn't have the black undershading of the white lettering that a true Bevan car had. Pass!

Brook Hire/ Millington Firenza

Have just brought this car back from Florida where it was sprayed yellow. I would like to put the car back to how it should look and need some pictures of the car in Brook Hire colours (rear view particularly) from the time it was raced by Dave Millington (and occasionally Gerry Marshall) in 1974/5. Anyone have any such pictures?
Thanks

Hi fellow looners,
Relatively new on here (only my fourth post on 10/Tenths) but I have followed club racing since 1975 especially special/supersaloons.
Over the last two evenings I have read all 58 pages on this topic and the memories have flooded back.

Does any one remember a driver called Terry Stone?
I think he drove in modsports but...I'm sure he also had a Corvair and in some of the photos on this topic there is a Corvair lurking in the background.
Would that be Terry or is my memory a bit dodgy nearly forty years on.

Back in the seventies Sheffield and Hallamshire mc used to organise a summer evening out at Hope in Derbyshire and a good turn out of competition cars were on display and I remember talking to Terry next to his modsport (Midget?).

Sadly Terry lost his life in an accident at his garage.

Hope someone can shed some light on this.

Regards,
saaben.

The Corvair would be the Ian Richardson car. I'm not sure who, if anyone, raced it after him.

It was subsequently owned (and tested but not raced) by my late father and he let Tony Strawson race it before he sold to Mick Leary IIRC.
Apparently it's body still exists but the mechanicals went back into what they came from.
