International F3000 Silly Season
We had some rumours about teams quiting or entering F3000 next season, but what about the drivers. Pizzonia may not return when het gets a Jag seat, Maurico will propably drive IRL next season and Tomas Enge drove his last F3000 race I think. Bourdais can maybe become full-time Renault testdriver, but Webber drove F3000 en tested F1 at the same time, so its possible that he is F3000 still next year. German F3 team boss Bertram Shäfer will propably buy Red Bull F3000 en bring Vitantonio Liuzzi into the series ( ). Has anyone read more roumors?

I'd be shocked to see Webber without an F1 drive next year.
Altough anything can happen, and does, in F1

Bourdais won't run one more season in Formula 3000... it was too hard for him to find money to run in 2002. Maybe he will be test-driver for Renault and run in spotscar or in CART...

Team Astromega will enter next year's Fia F3000 championship again. Not like some rumours say that we will quit F3000.

Rob Nguyen will drive for the team again...i think that he will be able to win a race or two with the speed he has demonstrated.I'm not sure what Mario Haberfeld will be doing?Maybe CART or IRL,altough i hope that he will stay with Astromega.I think that Pizzonia is out of the series,if i was him than i would concentrate on testing with Williams or even a drive with Jaguar.I hope that Bourdais and Mauricio stay in the series...and what about David Saelens and Bas Leinders?Could we see a return from those pilots?

"I'd be shocked to see Webber without an F1 drive next year. "
That's not what he meant, he was saying that just because Boardais will probably be testing next year, he may still race in F3000, using Webber as an example of someone who's done the same.
Rob Nguyen will definately race for a team next year, Wirdheim as well, but don't be surprised if Nordic hire someone like that next year. Bourdais should probably move on upwards, he can claim to be the MORAL victor of the title (in the eyes of the law) (unless Enge does get overthrown), which is good for his CV, and Enge can move on upwards if this thing blows over.
Some of these current drivers may get chances in CART or IRL, but F1? Depends on who buys Arrows and what their driver strategy is. Minardi could hire a sponsored driver, Pizzonia could be in at Jaguar or Toyota, but other chances look limited.

That's great news...
I think I was probably the one who took the rumour to this forum, after reading it in Autosport. But surely Mikke van Hoole at the time made it MORE than a rumour by telling Autosport: "We came close to pulling out of International F3000 at the end of last year, with the idea of going to do Euro 3000 instead. We carried on but it's too expensive. Unless something dramatic happens, and someone offers us a seriously big budget, we're not doing it anymore... We're very likely to do something else, and we'd like to make a move into the new Renault V6 series."
So was he telling lies or did Autosport just make this up?!
Whatever, I'm very glad Astromega are still in F3000!

I think there was a rumour about Coloni leaving as well.
From what I heard it all depends on the outcome of the result of the appeal against Arden and Petrobras (Monza GP).
But not read it on any site so not sure if it's a false rumour or just a quote to put pressure on the FIA.

The only thing that I know is Ricardo Maurício said that he hasn't plans to continue in F3000. He wanna go to USA (IRL) and I think he will.

sigi mueller of PSM said they will start in 03 with Kiesa and Schmidt, sponsors will keep supporting them
personally i don´t think that liuzzi will move to f3000, i suppose that auinger is more likely to go there
what about paffett? he could do jordan testing and f3000

I can see astromega becoming a Renault team as they are the official Renault team in the Formula Renault Monza championship...but mostly i guess that they will just stay Team Astromega...don't you think?
