Big Mac should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ten to get Oz GP coverage

Well, well. Good bye AJ and Dazza!!!

FROM F1 live:
It has been confirmed that Australian broadcaster, Channel Nine has lost the rights to screen Formula One next year with the series set to be screened on rival network, Channel Ten, the country's ‘Home of Motorsport'.

While this move has been anticipated for some time now, it has been confirmed that Nine is free of their F1 responsibilities, something they are pleased about, while an official announcement from Ten is expected in the next week or so.

Jut what the new deal with Ten entails is still unclear, however they are in a similar position to that of nine with most races falling late on a Sunday night when movies are scheduled. While the number one priority is to see the races live, most Aussie fans are hoping that qualifying, in some form, is part of the new agreement after only being able to witness one session a year, the one at their home GP in Melbourne.

About time. Fingers crossed we get a better deal!

I really hope this improves the standard of F1 coverage in Australia, and I think ten will show qualifying in some form. But what happens when there is a V8 Supercar/Superbike/CART/MotoGP clash with F1? Which comes first? For example, this year the Bathurst 1000 is on the same time as the Japanese GP, and Bathurst takes priority in that instance. I guess we will have to wait and see how things pan out - while this is great news at first glance, it may be that Ten's coverage isn't hugely better than nines.

My concern is do we have to wait until after the news & Sports Tonight? We could be waiting even longer

We get live F1 here, but it starts at midnight, with the time difference.Every year its a big drama will they/wont they show F1,Bernie always wants too much, but they must beat him down each year, they always find a sponsor at the last minute to pay for it,Toyota have picked up the tab this year, but it must be hard to find the money for advertising at midnight on Sundays.Who knows if we will see it next year, its certainally losing popularity with the red cars dominating all the time.

I have checked Channel 10's late News and Sports programmes and there doesn't seem to be any specific time for these two programmes to end, as they simply follow whatever movie, show, or other program that is on that night. So it varies from 11 to around 12. I guess I will simply tape each race and go to sleep. I've started doing that for the last two months, and find this a better arrangement.

Channel Nine are probably cheering that they got rid of it, considering the thousands of complaints the station receives after each race.

There is only one Australian network capable of providing quality motorsport coverage but unfortunately SBS would never be able to afford F1.

Well, by some miracle, SBS actually tlevises some really great soccer games, something which I thought would be extremely expensive. Yes!! I really wish SBS or even the ABC would come to our rescue.

Maybe they could show Schumacher winning the first race next year, then just replay it sixteen times,no one would be any the wiser, cause thats all your going to see.

I wonder if Jonsey will follow F1 across to ten. I mean they have him there for nothing else

Have you ever tried to watch a movie on Ten? towards the climax its 7 minutes movie, 3 minutes adverts. personaly i tape ten so i can wizz through the verts. Have to agree that the only Oz channel able to give F1 a fair go is SBS, like they did with the world cup, but they havent got the cash. does this mean we also get bernies digital service on fox?

As for presenters, id like to see Barry Sheen back...... actually i dont care what he's presenting, id just like to see Barry back. Good luck mate we all know you will fight and win your latest battle.
