All-American F1 team announced .
from autosport.com
Dan Gurney and Phil Hill behind ambitious plan
Former US grand prix stars Dan Gurney and Phil Hill have announced shock plans to launch an all-American Formula 1 team to make its debut next year. Details of the audacious move are sketchy, but Gurney explained some of the background behind the project at Indianapolis. A deal to run Ford Cosworth engines is on the table, he claimed, but did not discuss what chassis would be used or any potential buy-out of an existing team.
sounds a good move for F1....this is just what it needs. A bit of Variety.

Hmm... An attempt to cut off some of that Red Bull money?
Just what F1 needs, more nepitism... Their sons are going to be in the cars, you just know it.

New US F1 team?
Dan Gurney and Phil Hill? A new US F1 team? Announcement at USGP on Autosport. I can't see it happening myself. There are no US drivers good enough to lead a team and Dan couldn't get a Ford deal for his Champcar team a few seasons ago and had to close it down. The cahnces of these guys raising the funding for a USGP team aren't that great. The US has enough trouble raising money to support US drivers in domestic series let alone an overseas series.

Shame. Dan Gurney is too upstanding a man to get involved in some sort of marketing/quota stunt.

As long as they put the right drivers in there , then i think it will be a great move......F1 needs some involvement from America .
I can think of a few USA drivers that would be worth a shot in F1.
Anyway , i dont think Derek Hill and Alex Gurney would even get to qualify a car within 107% unless it was a bloody good car.
With the right drivers , this could be something to take a way the spotlight from all the manufactuers .

With the right drivers this could be good, but if the idea is to put their sons in the cars, then I'm all against it. I've seen Derek Hill in F3000 this year, and he's nowhere near F1 material. He makes far too many mistakes, and he's slow.
Put Bryan Herta and A.J. Allmendinger in the cars, and we might be talking.

let's hope Derek Hill never get's his hands on a F1 car, he's Just TO SLOW!!
He's the American Viktor Maslov!(or Alex Yoong)
I've also seen him cause an accident last year when the field was behind the safety car(Imola??) and this year he caused an accident in an area where the yelow flags where already out because of an earlier incident.
slow AND dangerous!
how about Townsened Bell and Brian Herta??

Allmendinger and Hunter-Raey. But it will never happen in these conditions. Do those 2 have a connection at GM?

surely it's nigh on impossible to have an All American F1 team as it would have to be based in Europe, i don't see the FIA offering to pay for their travel from the US every race like they do for the fly away races at the moment!
