What if Jacques does switch to CART?
I don't think he does (for the mere reason I cannot see a team ensuring him of a F1 drive for 2004. At least BAR won't when he actually leaves them. They feel tied by his contract as it is...), but if he does, who will replace him?
In my mind, the most sensible choice would be Anthony Davidson.

CART.com has him saying "It would be hard for me to leave F1"...

If Jordan decides to drop Sato, then he would be my first choice.. Replace one hard charger with another one.

I dont think JV is going anywhere. Davidson sounds realistic though if JV should make the choice to leave. Sato would be good too but I dont know if EJ wants to have another broken contract to deal with.

Villeneuve CART return still possible
Craig Pollock considers running a Champ Car team
Jacques Villeneuve has not ruled out a return to Champ Car racing, according to his manager Craig Pollock, who could set up his own team in the US-based series .

CART.com wrote an article on Jacques saying he might come to CART, but only with Pollock quotes. That was yesterday.
Today CART.com had an article with JV and JPM defending CART instead of IRL, and Jacques said that he's not going, probably.
Both can be found at CART's homepage

David Richards is not willing to make a return to BAR in '04 as part of his deal with Forsythe and Jacques, which is a condition that Jacques won't change.
So the only way JV will go to CART in '03 would be if Pollock could buy an existing CART team, with everything in place. If he wants to start one, then Jacques should stay where he is for now, and then go over in '04 with Craig and a new team, which, given Jacques salary, I think is the more likely of the 2 options.

Does Jacques actually want anything at all except a big paycheque and all the girls in the paddock under the age of 20?
Yes, actually he apparently wants an open forum to jeer at TGF.
So co-owning a CART team that he would drive in would be perfect. Every time he wins a race or gets on the podium he'd have a microphone that he could use to make cutting remarks about TGF. That ought to be worth something.

Considering Jacques' history with Michael, his attitude towards him should not be surprising to anyone, least of all the media. When asked his opinion, he usually gives it, but I don't believe he goes around mouthing off Michael for the sport of it. I also don't think it's all about the paycheque, anymore, but that is just MHO.
I've often thought Jacques is the most misunderstood driver in the paddock....must be the genes....

Jacques is basically a good guy... He just doesn't have his head on straight anymore. I think Pollack has some sort of subconscious desire to destroy his client's career.
If he was in a position to have some good scraps with Zorro and Kimi, then I think he'd get straight pretty fast. At this point... He's just bored stiff with his uncompetitive car, hostile boss, and inept manager.
Yeah, I know his dad would find a way to put that car into the points. But that's a pretty high standard to hold anyone to!

If he goes to CART, good for him, he won't be defeated by Ferarri for another year. He will be though defeated by a Ford, as I have strong doubts that he will win the Championship

i think he could win the championship in Cart ....as long as he commits to it , and makes up his mind what he wants to do. He's got the talent , just needs to get a bit focused on his future.
