RallyX should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Blyton Rallycross Thingy

Oh Lordy, - Just got back from Blyton for what has to be described as one of the most interesting meetings I've done for a while....

Only me on post, A radio that would only receive - then died completely, No brush, No cement, No Flags, No Extinguishers, No way of telling anyone! Besides using good ol' Bt Cellnet to the previous post, (next post had no radio either!). It took three hours to provide me with the basics!

Still for all the grief - still enjoyed it! A real grass roots event, brought about by the local autograss club wanting to have a go on the rallycross circuit, so - non MSA, apparently it was run by NORA (Batty), and NASA (surely not the same one....)which probably explains some of it

Still, its nice to do something different once in a while, to keep the ol' feet on the ground......

I wonder if certain chief marshal was trying to inflict revenge by not giving RallyX a radio, etc?

The real problem to those whose radios were not drowned by the morning rain was the early decision making. Marshals were comunicating with radio control in normal motor racing circuit manner. In autograss it appears Tom, Dick, Fred, Bill, Uncle Tom Cobbly as well as Harry could make decisions. But they were not in the habit of telling the marshals or control what they had decided. Eventually a working relationship occured as they learned from our example.

What was truely amazing was working with their flag signals, but that could be another seperate thread.

Certainly someone should consider linking grasstrackers as a nursary for RallyCross. MSA fees would kill that idea.

Those motorbike engined specials, and the ones with V8s, etc., were incredible. The speed and sideways antics would get the respect of the mad European RallyCross boys like Hunsbet, etc.

Cheers Rod - I have to say the idea of a revenge tactic by the Chief Marshal did cross my mind...

I had to revert to using my scanner, so I could hear what was going on, then use my mobile to call post 6 so he could transmit for me, wonderful stuff!

Am I guilty of unecessary moaning with regards to the cars parked nose-first to the outside of the first section of loose? The thought of a car rolling towards the public frightens the **** out of me..... We've threatened to stop heats on three occasions on rallycross events this year when spectators have congregated there, so it seems to be madness to allow cars to park in that area.

And they want to run the event again!!
