Le Mans Models/Magazine
I recall seeing a thread, which for the life of me I can't find now, regarding a "part-work" magazine plus model, of Le Mans winners, that was going to start in August.
Don't suppose anybody can assist ?

News to me, and I guess I ought to know.
Anyone remember it?

Bits of memory keep coming back to me - the publishers were French, and specialised in part-works for a variety of subjects. There was a link to their website from the thread.

This subject has cropped up on some specialist diecast forums. As I understand it, it hasn't started yet, but is probably going to be from DeAgostini or DelPrado, who publish other such part-works.
However, the diecast maufacturers Ixo, have a license from the ACO to produce all previous Le Mans winners. Some are already available in special 24 dun Mans packaging. They retail at £20-£23 each.

If the ACO have the licence, I wonder how the publishers of the part-work have got around that. Leave off all the ACO's decals etc? If there was a part-work, I'd be sure to get it (assuming the models were half-decent).

The models will be half decent, and are being made by Spark and IXO as well as maybe some others. The Audi has a great overall paint job, though it lacks the costly hand painted detail that you would expect from an IXO mainstream product. The second link in Mike's link has some photos. The list includes Dome Dallara and Lola MG as well as more predictable subjects for which IXO already have the moulds. It's likely that the cars that were fitted with wire wheels will have injection moulded centres, but that's easily fixed with BBR aftermarket products. If you are good with a paintbrush, the models will be acceptable to most people as the basis of a collection, a step or three up from Del Prado. IXO are also producing all the LM winners under the ACO label, and I suppose it's part of the deal.
There's also a GP partwork out in France, with very variable quality. I got a fairly good Merc W196 (again needing PE centres) but the McLarens are ropey and the rest I've seen are mediocre.
